In the famous 1960s hit 'Is That All There Is?' by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, Peggy Lee croons the melancholy lyric, 'If that's all there is, my friend, then, let's keep dancing. Let's break out the booze and have a ball, if that's all there is.' While this song ironically doesn't make it into the eclectic catalog of tunes that fuel THE LAST TWO PEOPLE ON EARTH: AN APOCALYPTIC VAUDEVILLE, currently in its world premiere at the A.R.T. in Cambridge, it could easily have become the show's theme song. When a flood of epic proportions wipes out all but two scraggly survivors, played as a pair of Estragon and Vladimir-style hobos by Mandy Patinkin and Taylor Mac, there is very little left for them to do but sing and dance.

Breyan Isaac - a songwriter/producer/artist whose compositions have been recorded by such stars as Justin Bieber, French Montana, Austin Mahone, Flo Rida, Nicki Minaj, Nelly, Pitbull, 2 Chainz, and David Guetta - was a recent guest presenter at SAE Institute Miami's “Behind The Mix” lecture series. This past Monday, the Broadway at Birdland concert series presented singer Natalie Douglas in the first of a four-month run of her concert, 'Hello Dolly...The Music of Dolly Parton.' The celebration of all things Dolly will run Mondays, May 18, July 6 and August 10 at 7pm.

Singers Jane Monheit, Jim Caruso and singer/pianist/arranger Billy Stritch have joined forces in HOLLYWOODLAND: Songs From The Silver Screen, which is running at Birdland through Thanksgiving (Thursday) evening with a show at 6pm. Material includes beloved songs like 'Pennies From Heaven,' 'Let's Misbehave,' 'Over The Rainbow,' 'If I Only Had A Brain,' 'Whistle While You Work,' and 'It Happened In Sun Valley.' There is also a tribute to the songs introduced by Fred Astaire. The trio is accompanied by Rick Montalbano on drums and Neal Miner on bass.

The Laguna Playhouse Executive and Artistic Directors, Karen Wood and Ann E. Wareham are thrilled to present the second show of their 2014-2015 season, THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING by Joan Didion and directed by Jenny Sullivan (Steel Magnolias). 'To have Linda Purl on our stage with one of the more powerful pieces of theatre I have come across is just a triumph that our audiences and subscribers are going to treasure,' offers Wood. 'Jenny Sullivan is quite simply one of our best theatre directors working today and to have her bring her magic touch to the powerful words of Joan Didion is simply a dream realized,' adds Wareham. THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING will begin previews tonight, October 8 and will open on Saturday, October 11 at 7:30pm and run through Sunday, November 2, 2014 at the Laguna Playhouse, 606 Laguna Canyon Road in Laguna Beach.
