The Actors Fund announced today that Kelli O'Hara has joined the cast of the upcoming benefit concert of Ragtime in the role of 'Mother'. The unforgettable music of the Tony Award-winning sensation Ragtime will once again be heard on Broadway in a one-night only benefit concert on Monday, April 27, 2020.

When Lenny comes on stage at the start of the cunning and quirky play Companion Piece, he is nervously trying to knot a necktie while addressing an unseen person in the bedroom from which he just emerged. Her name is Rosemary.

After sold-out shows at the Dixon Place and the PIT Loft, Dana Aber's Baggage at the Door has been selected to compete in the ONE Festival, happening the week of April 22-28, at the Teatro LATEA. Named an Official Selection of the 2019 ONE Festival, Baggage at the Door will join 9 other original soloshow theatre pieces. Founded by Veronica Caicedo, The ONE Festival is NYC's longest running solo performers theater festival, and returns to The Clemente's LATEA Theater for its 14th year.

Stonewall Production LLC has announced that Annie Golden, Aaron Simon Gross, Rev Yolanda, Claybourne Elder and Kevin Smith Kirkwood will lead the cast of the upcoming workshop of STONEWALL: A RHAPSODY ON RESISTANCE, a new musical written and composed by Dave Bates about the moments leading up to the violent raid on the Stonewall Inn.

Carousel is Rodgers and Hammerstein's favorite musical. Produced on Broadway in 1945 with John Raitt and Jan Clayton in the roles of Billy Bigelow and Julie Jordan, it was R & H's second hit in a row, Oklahoma! being the first, with a string of others to follow. Any Rodgers & Hammerstein musical is among the very best there is in the annals of musical theatre history. The incredibly beautiful music alone is enough to keep an audience riveted, but Hammerstein's books were also laden with topical themes and much food for thought, as with Carousel that becomes a sort of parable for love, forgiveness and redemption. In their current beautifully mounted revival of Carousel, MTW may be assured of a gigantic hit.

This Friday, March 25th, a private reading will be held of FIXING FRANKIE, a new musical by Joe Langworth (book and lyrics) and Steve Marzullo (music).  The team, who met during the original production of RAGTIME in 1996, co-conceived this new musical comedy and it is their first full-length collaboration. Langworth will also direct with Marzullo providing musical direction.

Unquestionably one of musical theater's most beloved, iconic classics, WEST SIDE STORY---the stirring Broadway musical that features a book by theater titan Arthur Laurents, music by the incomparable Leonard Bernstein, and lyrics by living legend Stephen Sondheim---remains a still-resonant masterpiece of song, dance and story that explores themes still quite relevant even in modern times. For Musical Theatre West in Long Beach's latest regional revival, the show is presented in a rather nostalgic iteration that closely harkens back to the mood and feel of the original 1957 stage production (plus hints of its Academy Award-winning 1961 film adaptation). Nothing beats going to back to the power and intentions of the Jerome Robbins-helmed original, which this production successfully honors and emulates. Composer Steve Marzullo will premier his song cycle 'To Marz And Back' this Sunday, July 12th as part of The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) concert series this summer.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) recently announced its full lineup of productions, readings, and concerts for NYMF 2015. From today, July 7, to July 27, NYMF 2015 will present almost two dozen productions of new musicals, including the newly announced Passing By and Summer Valley Fair. In addition, NYMF 2015 will also feature staged readings and the debut of brand new concerts.
