SAINT-EX wins Weston Playhouse New Musical Award

Saint-Ex, a musical inspired by the life of author/aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (The Little Prince), has won the fourth annual Weston Playhouse New Musical Award, announced Weston Producing Director Steve Stettler.

On astormy night, Sergei sits alone with his first great novel in a small room inMoscow. A knock at the door propels him down the rabbit hole into an adventureof ridiculous proportions. This world premiere event melds together thehilarious and stunning adaptation by Keith Reddin with an epic original scoreby Andrew Gerle and Royce Vavrek. From the thunderous sound of the keys, thetrue music of a man's voice battles with your expectations. Performances for 'Black Snow' will be held February 3-6.

The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director), winner of a special 2006 Drama Desk Award for 'Vital contributions to theatre by developing and producing new musicals' will present NEO5, a benefit concert celebrating emerging musical theatre writers, on Monday, April 27 at its home in Saint Peter's Theatre. Following the 8 PM performance featuring the voices of many of today's top musical theatre talent, there will be a champagne and dessert reception to end the evening catered by Kitchenette.

The evening will feature The Oh So Sexy Songs of Bill Nelson, with performances by Rob Broadhurst, Joe Cassidy (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), Bill Gross, Bill Nelson, Luke Redmond, Erica Robinson, and Wesley Taylor, with musical direction and accompaniment by Marc Evans.
