Stars of both stage and screen joined the celebration when the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning Vineyard Theatre honored Tony Award-winner Linda Lavin at the Off-Broadway company’s annual Gala on Monday, March 12 at the Hudson Theater in Manhattan. Ms. Lavin made her Vineyard Theatre debut earlier this season in the critically acclaimed production of Nicky Silver’s play THE LYONS and will again star in THE LYONS when the play moves to Broadway next month starting April 5 at the Cort Theatre. Rob Marshall began his career with Roundabout working on celebrated musicals such as She Loves Me, Company, Little Me and the Tony Award®-winning Cabaret. When Hollywood beckoned, he directed and choreographed the biggest film musical in years, the Academy Award® winning Chicago, the summer blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and the star studded NINE among others. Beginning in January and continuing through the coming months, four of her plays will be presented as a way of examining the arc of her career and the special impact she had on the theatre community. Wasserstein, whose works portrayed the challenging and complex lives of contemporary women, died on Jan. 30, 2006 of lymphoma. (more...)

The Hole in the Wall Theater, New Britain's home for edgy and intriguing plays and musicals, takes on four world premiere one-act comedies by Connecticut playwright Jacques Lamarre. In a riotous evening entitled Jacques Lamarre Has Gone Too Far, characters push beyond the boundaries of normal, everyday situations into some rather bad behavior. Inspired by John Waters, Saturday Night Live and the Ridiculous Theatrical Company, Jacques Lamarre Has Gone Too Far is a whacked-out look at life today. The production, not suitable for younger viewers, runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. November 18 through December 10. There are two Sunday Matinees at 2 p.m. on November 27 and December 4. Vineyard Theatre opened the world-premiere production of Nicky Silver's play THE LYONS, starring Linda Lavin and Dick Latessa, last night, October 11. The production, which was originally scheduled to run through October 30 has been extended through through November 11 due to popular demand.
