Mysterium Theater Presents THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, Now thru 8/17

Mysterium Theater presents the Project Gutenberg Adaptation in Two Acts of The Importance of Being Earnest, a classic comedy of manners, by Oscar Wilde, in which two flippant young men, in order to impress their respected beloveds, pretend that their names are 'Ernest,' which both young ladies believe confers magical qualities on the possessor. It was first performed for the public on February 14, 1895 at the St. James' Theatre in London, and is regarded by many critics and scholars as being the wittiest play in the English language. It is being presented as part of the Mysterium Theater 5th Anniversary celebration! Produced by Marla Ladd, and directed by Kaitlyn Tice.

Dixon Place, a non-profit multi-arts venue soon to be in its second decade, will feature the work of twelve prominent New York City choreographers to kick off the summer. TRANSLATE (Voices of Dance) will take the stage on June 27th and 28th at 7:30pm as a part of their eclectic programming. The TRANSLATE series is presented in an effort to spotlight mid-career choreographers across many styles as artists to watch in the near future. The selected artists are invited to participate in salon discussion sessions featuring topics that reinforce their foundation as dance artists and promote their work.

The Hollywood Arts Council presented their 28th Annual Charlie Awards Luncheon in theBlossom Room of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, home of the first Academy Awards ceremony, at a Sold Out event on Friday, April 25, 2014. Shauna McClure, Executive Director of the Hollywood Arts Council said: "This was the record breaking year of all time in the Hollywood Arts Council's 36-year history. Moving beyond concert dance as a beautiful art form to watch to dance for a purpose, ADC presents 'Giving Back and Moving Forward' as an artistic platform for communities to actively engage in charity work. For their annual Spring Gala, ADC has chosen to raise aphasia awareness in conjunction with The National Aphasia Association (NAA). ADC will offer two exciting programs including the premiere of a new dance work inspired by Aphasia research and a documentary of the making of the dance work.
