THE FANTASTICKS Opens This Week at Winding Road Theater Ensemble!

THE FANTASTICKS, best known for being the world's longest running musical, will open this week at the Winding Road Theater Ensemble! With Music by Harvey Schmidt, and a Book and Lyrics by Tom Jones, THE FANTASTICKS opened Off-Broadway in 1960 and ran for a record breaking forty-two years, closing in 2002. It was then revived again Off-Broadway in 2006, where it ran for another 11 years, closing in 2017.

The award-winning musical, A Letter to Harvey Milk, based on the short story "A Letter to Harvey Milk" by Leslea Newman,  will enjoy an invite-only industry reading in New York City on Monday, June 22, 2015 at Times Square's Playroom Theatre. A Letter to Harvey Milk, has a book by Jerry James, Cheryl Stern and Laura I. Kramer, lyrics by Ellen M. Schwartz with additional lyrics by Cheryl Stern, and music by Laura I. Kramer, it has been musical directed, arranged and orchestrated by Ned Paul Ginsburg, and the reading will be directed by Evan Pappas (Performer: Parade, My Favorite Year).

The musical features an impressive cast led by Leslie Kritzer (Sondheim on Sondheim, A Catered Affair Legally Blonde), Jeff Keller (Phantom of the Opera, Sunday in the Park, Candide), Cheryl Stern (Into the Woods, La Cage Aux Folles, The Women, Les Miserable), Michael Bartoli (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat), Brandon Uranowitz (Baby It's You, Rent, Ragtime), Michael Padgett (Jekyll and Hyde) and Sara Corey (Beau Jest).

About a year ago, I was asked to do a recording of a musical called A Letter To Harvey Milk. I wasn't familiar with the writing team but from the moment I set foot in Ellen Schwartz's apartment and began to read the scenes and sing a bit of one of my songs, I knew I had come home!!!

The Next Link Project empowers emerging musical theatre writing teams as both artists and entrepreneurs by providing the training and relationships needed to help them move their musicals from readings to fully-realized productions and to advance their careers by maximizing the exposure they receive in the Festival. Ten of the Festival's full production slots are reserved for participants in The Next Link Project.

Betrayal to Enjoy Limited Run at Attic Theatre in L.A.

Nobel Prize winner Harold's Pinter's (The Birthday Party, The Caretaker) drama Betrayal will see a four week limited run at the Attic and Theatre Film Ensemble, opening Thursday April 5th and playing Thursday through Saturday at 8 PM, through Saturday April 28th.
