Lee SummersÂ’ Just A Piano Concert Series celebrates itsÂ’ sixth year at the Triad Theatre. Since 2006 The Just A Piano Series has presented top artists. The list includes Broadway Stars, such as Roz Ryan, Norm Lewis, Kecia Lewis-Evans, Tituss Burgess, Alton White, Chester Gregory, Shoshana Beane, Julie Reiber, Jerry Dixon, Kevin Anthony, Aisha DaHaas, Carmen Ruby Floyd, Rhett George, Marva Hicks along with Tony Award Winners like Adriane Lenox, LaChanz, Melba Moore and Lillias White, Grammy Winners and Nominees such as Caron Wheeler and Ryan Shaw, guest TV and Film stars such as Mario Cantone and more. Performances began October 12 at 8 pm at the Booth Theatre for Jon Robin Baitz's critically acclaimed new play OTHER DESERT CITIES directed by Joe Mantello. This Lincoln Center Theater production features Stockard Channing, Rachel Griffiths, Stacy Keach, Judith Light and Thomas Sadoski. Rural Mississippi just after World War II is a changing place where blacks have been leaving and going north in droves. Not "Prince" Albert - he likes it here. A poor sharecropper, but a strong man and a gifted farmer, he is proud of his leadership and standing. And when he finds out that his wife is pregnant, he decides to fulfill a dream -- to fix up and put fresh white paint on his shabby little tenant house. That simple wish turns his world upside down. Many people, not only the whites, don't want him to do it. Passions erupt, and resentment and fear gather like a dark summer storm, shattering family and community. ( more...)
