Burning Coal Theatre Company Announces 8-Week Classes for Adults by BWW News Desk - May 20, 2013
Burning Coal Theatre Company's artistic director, Jerome Davis, will conduct an eight week acting class based on the concepts the legendary acting teacher, Uta Hagen. The class will take place Mondays from 7 to 10 pm, June 10 through July 29th. The class is a scene study class which emphasizes ideas discussed in Ms. Hagen's landmark book Respect for Acting. Burning Coal Theatre Company Announces KIDSWRITE 2013 by BWW News Desk - May 02, 2013
Burning Coal Theatre Company has announced the plays that will be produced as part of KidsWrite 2013. The performance will include plays from students at Raleigh Charter School, Enloe High School and Wake Young Men's Leadership Academy. Performances of KidsWrite 2013 will take place on Friday, May 24th at 7:30 pm and Saturday, May 25th at 2 pm and 7:30 pm. Tickets are $10. No reservations necessary. Burning Coal Theatre Company of Raleigh, NC announces its 2013/2014 season of plays. In its 17th season, the theatre, which is housed in the historic Murphey School auditorium at 224 Polk Street, Raleigh, NC, will present the American premiere of The Heretic by Richard Bean, directed by Jerome Davis (September 9 - 26, 2013), William Shakespeare's (Three Man) Tempest, adapted and directed by Randolph Curtis Rand (December 5 - 22, 2013), the world premiere of Terry Milner's The Jesus Fund, directed by Beth Gardiner (January 30 - February 16, 2014) and Goodrich and Hackett's modern classic The Diary of Anne Frank, directed by Abdelfattah Abusrour (April 3 - 20, 2014). Burning Coal Theatre Company is teaming up with NCSU's Encore program to present a spring 2013 Theatre Tour to the great city of Toronto. The tour will run April 22 - 28, 2013. The price is $2,750 per person (double occupancy). If you would like a single room, add $300 to the cost. If you are going to arrange your own flight, subtract $750 from the cost. (more...)

Burning Coal announces the Uta Hagen-based Scene Study Class. Artistic Director Jerome Davis will conduct an 8-week acting class based on the principles found in Uta Hagen's book Respect for Acting. Davis studied with Ms. Hagen in New York City for seven years. The class will be held at Burning Coal Theatre Company's Murphey School, 224 Polk Street, Raleigh. Burning Coal Theatre Company will close its 15th season with the world premiere of Jude the Obscure, Parts 1 & 2 by Ian Finley, with music and lyrics by Thomas Hardy, Bruce Benedict, Jerome Davis and Jonathan Fitts. The production will run April 12 - May 5, 2012 at the Murphey School, 224 Polk Street, Raleigh, NC. Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 pm (April 12 - 14, 19 - 21, 26 - 28 and May 3 - 5, 2012), Saturdays at 2 pm (April 21, 28 and May 5, 2012) and Sundays at 2 pm (April 15, 22, 29, 2012). Sunday, April 15 (Part 1) and Sunday, April 22nd (Part 2) at 2 pm are our 'Pay What You Can' days. Those performances will also be Audio Described. Burning Coal today announced that Rosemarie Morgan, current President of the Thomas Hardy Society and Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of St Andrews, Scotland, will speak on "The Critical Response to the Publication of Jude the Obscure by Thomas Hardy" on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 6 pm at the Murphey School, 224 Polk Street, Raleigh.
