THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY OF STEVE JOBS to Return to Public Theater in January

Due to extraordinary demand, The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Patrick Willingham) announced today that Mike Daisey's critically acclaimed THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY OF STEVE JOBS will return in January for an additional five week run in the Martinson Theater. Created and performed by Mike Daisey and directed by Jean-Michele Gregory, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY OF STEVE JOBS began previews at The Public on October 11, officially opened on October 17, and was originally scheduled to close on November 13. It was extended an additional three weeks to December 4. The return engagement will run January 31 to March 4, 2012. Tickets, priced at $75-$85, are on sale now. Do we as Americans really know where our stuff comes from? Do we know who makes it? That's the central question surrounding Mike Daisey's one man show currently at the Seattle Rep, "The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs". And while a very funny and scathing look at corporate greed, at times the performance comes across as a little deliberate and repetitive.

Public Theater Artistic Director Oskar Eustis announced the line-up today for The Public's 2011-2012 Season. The 56th Season will feature new works by Mike Daisey, Nathan Englander, David Henry Hwang, Richard Nelson, and Stew and Heidi Rodewald, as well as the premiere of FEBRUARY HOUSE, a new musical by Gabriel Kahane and Seth Bockley that is the first commission of The Public's Musical Theater Initiative.
