GEMS Opens 5th Anniversary Celebration with Gala Concert Tonight, 10/4 by BWW News Desk - Oct 04, 2012
Gotham Early Music Scene (GEMS), an organization that enriches public understanding and appreciation of early music in New York City, has played a major role in revitalizing the early music community since its founding in 2007. GEMS will be celebrating its milestone fifth anniversary this October through January, beginning with a gala concert and reception tonight, October 4, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at the New York Society for Ethical Culture, 2 West 64th Street, in Manhattan. Tickets are $40 for the concert alone, or $125 for the concert and reception. (more...)

St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble will begin its 2012/2013 chamber series with Baroque repertoire by Heinrich Biber, Tomaso Albinoni and J.S. Bach. Miller Theatre at Columbia University School of the Arts opens its 2012-13 season with Le Poeme Harmonique in "Venezia". France's award-winning early music group performs its largest New York production to date, a candlelit semi-staged performance of songs by Monteverdi and Manelli set in the streets and canals of 17th century Venice during Carnival on Wednesday, September 12, 8:00 p.m. and Friday, September 14, 8:00 p.m. at Miller Theatre (2960 Broadway at 116th street).
