​​​​​​​Madrid, November 24, 2020 - ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS) and production company Morena Films today announced a co-development deal for dramedy TV series The Kellys.

The limited series will star and be executive produced by Nine Stories’ Jake Gyllenhaal.

Stage and screen legend Alan Menken might be contained to his home like the rest of us, but he's certainly keeping busy! In a recent talkback with Young Artists of America, the composer revealed that he is hard at work with Stephen Schwartz on a sequel to the 2007 film Enchanted, titled Disenchanted.

After previously serving a termination notice, Disney has decided to retain and furlough the crew working on its UK production The Little Mermaid. According to Deadline, Disney will utilize the government's Job Retention Scheme, which means they will receive 80% of salary up to a maximum of £2,500 ($3,100) per month.

Disney has announced that its stopping production on its feature films until this whole coronavirus outbreak blows over, which includes the live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid, according to Deadline. The other films include Home Alone, The Last Duel, Nightmare Alley, and Peter Pan & Wendy and Shrunk.

Amazon Studios today announced it has signed a first look deal with award-winning actors and producers Gael García Bernal (Mozart in the Jungle) and Diego Luna (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), who currently serve as executive producers on the upcoming limited series Untitled Cortés and Moctezuma Project, from Amazon Studios and Amblin Television. As part of the deal, Bernal and Luna will create and produce content for Amazon Studios to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in over 200 countries and territories worldwide. Luna and Bernal recently announced their new production house in Mexico, La Corriente del Golfo, an independent company for cinematic, theatrical, and television productions and a variety of community-oriented projects.

December is a big month for stage to screen adaptations, because the highly-anticipated film, CATS, will be released on December 20! The Spongebob Squarepants musical will also be performed live on Nickelodeon December 7 with the original cast! It was also announced that Follies will be adapted into a feature film by BBC Films and Heyday Films.

Jonah Hauer-King has been cast as Prince Eric in Disney's live-action remake of 'The Little Mermaid,' according to Variety.

It was confirmed that Idina Menzel will play Evelyn, the evil stepmother, in the live-action Cinderella film starring Camila Cabello. Ariana Debose has joined the cast of Ryan Murphy's Netflix adaptation of the The Prom. In other Netflix news, it was announced that Andrew Garfield will star in the Lin-Manuel Miranda directed Netflix adaptation of tick, tick...BOOM!
