TenthPlanet: Planet Connections 10th Annual Theatre Festivity played to packed houses and great acclaim for each production. Another sold out house was achieved for the company's annual 'Playwrights for a Cause' event, this year, benefiting the Ali Forney Center. The banner season culminates with the Planet Awards. Prohibition in America was an era of profound contradictions – a period of unprecedented government intervention into the lives of citizens, and yet also a time of exuberance, decadence and casting off restraints. Nearly a hundred years later, Smithsonian Channel's DRINKS, CRIME AND PROHIBITION takes a deep dive into the underbelly of a time characterized as much by jazz, illegal booze and female liberation as it was by gangsters and brutality. Weapons experts, historians, museum curators and mixologists weigh in on 'the failed experiment” and the compelling drama it unleashed, with all its unlikely alliances, corruption and machinations of organized crime. The two-part special premieres Monday, June 11 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Smithsonian Channel.

On Friday, May 11, prolific performer Ty Taylor collaborated with the team behind LA's hit series "For The Record" to debut his new solo album Nouveau Mid-Century Romance Songbook. Taylor, best known as the lead singer of classic soul and rock 'n' roll band Vintage Trouble, will light up the stage at Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills for this official album release concert along with special guests Matthew Morrison, Tracie Thoms, Brenna Whitaker and Chris Pierce. Directed by Anderson Davis, the evening will kick off with a Jazz showcase from exceptional artists including Spencer Day, Olivia Kuper Harris, Myles Nuzzi and Dylan Meek and will be followed by Taylor's collection of modernistic tracks inspired by mid-century jazz standards.

THE TENTH PLANET: Planet Connections Turns 10

This summer, Planet Connections Theatre Festivity (PCTF), the brainchild of arts professional Glory Kadigan, turns 10 years old. In that decade, PCTF has successfully changed the landscape of the theatre festival and all of New York independent theatre.
