York Theatre Company, celebrating the legendary librettist and lyricist Tom Jones with Musicals in Mufti: The Tom Jones Festival, concludes the spring series with the New York premiere of The Game of Love, with book and lyrics by Tom Jones, music by classical composer Jacques Offenbach, and arrangements & additional music by Nancy Ford. The Game of Love is based The Anatol Plays by Arthur Schnitzler. The limited engagement will play 5 performances only May 11 -13 at The York Theatre at Saint Peter’s (Citicorp Building, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). A free concert celebrating the release of Over The Moon: The Broadway Lullaby Project, a multi-media charity project that includes a two-CD set of original lullabies composed and sung by Broadway’s brightest stars, a lavishly-illustrated hardcover book of 17 songs from the album, a corresponding e-book encompassing the entire collection, and a documentary film. The project gathers many of contemporary theater’s greatest composers and vocalists, as well as award-winning illustrators and set designers, all of whom donated their talent to this endeavor. Frank Wildhorn's WONDERLAND, which opened on Broadway last Spring, will make its international premiere at Tokyo's Aoyama Theatre in Fall 2012. Set to star in the production are Kei Aran and Megumi Hamada. Hiromi Suzuki will direct. The production will run November 18-December 4. Click here for tickets. (more...)

One of the best things about the "Broadway Highlights" concert series at the John W. Engeman Theater is that there is something for everyone. It is a great way for someone new to theater to get exposed to classic songs. At the same time, it is enjoyable for the seasoned theater goer who wants to relive some amazing Broadway moments. LIVING FOR TODAY, with musical direction by Nate Patten, and direction by David Alpert, played a one-night-only engagement at the newly renovated Joe's Pub last night, October 17, 2011 at 7:00PM. The fourth annual LIVING FOR TODAY concert showcased Broadway stars in an exciting night of music. This year's concert, titled FIRST NAME BASIS, featured everyone's favorite showtunes, but only those with a first name in the title. Proceeds go to the Gilana Shira Alpert Fund.
