Two Special Events Announced in May at the Peterborough Players

For one night only on Friday, May 17, at 8:00 pm, the Peterborough Players welcomes back to the stage Comedian Jane Condon (star of last season's Janie Condon: Raw & Unchained) for an evening of laughs! As a stand-up comedian, Jane won the Ladies of Laughter contest, won Audience Favorite (NY) on NBC's Last Comic Standing, and has had audiences rolling in the aisles around the country! Last season, you saw the story of how and why Jane became a comedian. Now, see the stand-up act that has made her one of the brightest stars in comedy. For over twenty-five years the Sunshine Committee (which is funded through an annual holiday raffle held at the Monastery) has been providing entertainment, companionship and tons of love to senior citizens and children's centers in the New York area. Whether they are sending singers, musicians, comedians or performance artists to brighten up the residents of nursing homes; or providing clowns, magicians and entertainment for disadvantaged children in group homes, the Sunshine Committee is dedicated to enhancing each and every life they touch. The Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs has announced the nominees for the 2010 24th Annual MAC Awards. The ceremony honoring the nominees, will take place on May 4, 2010 at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill, and will be hosted by Sharon McNight. Leslie Uggams will be honored for Lifetime Achievement, with Board of Directors Awards being presented to Peter Leavy and playbill.com. The event will begin at 7:30pm. Doors open at 6:00pm. Lennie Watts will direct the evening, with Tracy Stark musical directing. (more...)
