After fronting the roots-music duo Smooth Hound Smith and exploring his own unique blend of spaced-out psychedelic folk music, the EP was co-produced by Smith and Jonathan Smalt, producer and drummer for Devon Gilfillian, and also features Gilfilian himself (“Hooks”), Taylor Thompson (Bass), Blake Reams (pedal steel) and Josh Baylock (keyboards).

Smith released the EP’s title track “Nighttime Animal” that was co-written with Kyshona. The six-song EP finds the singer, songwriter, producer and guitarist stepping out on his own following 10+ years fronting the acclaimed roots-music duo Smooth Hound Smith and exploring his own unique blend of spaced-out psychedelic folk music.

Following more than a decade as the frontman and principal songwriter of the accomplished Americana duo Smooth Hound Smith, ZG Smith steps out on his own with the release of his debut single “Let Me Back In.' The song was co-produced by Smith alongside Jonathan Smalt (Devon Gilfillian) and features Antibalas’ Ray Mason on trombone.

The New Group has announced complete casting and dates for the company’s 2022-23 Season opener: Evanston Salt Costs Climbing, by Will Arbery and directed by Danya Taymor. The New York premiere of this play about climate and change will feature Quincy Tyler Bernstine, Jeb Kreager, Ken Leung, and Rachel Sachnoff.

Desure’s songwriting, illustrative storytelling, and compelling live performance has caught the attention of songwriting icons earning him direct support billing on US tours with Willie Nelson, Dwight Yoakam, Midland and Jamestown Revival; as well as major music festivals performances including Ohana, Bumbershoot, Pilgrimage, and Wonderfront.

August brings more exciting events to Spruce Peak Arts!

Grammy Award-winning roots band Old Crow Medicine Show and John Doe Folk Trio (featuring the prolific singer/songwriter of X and The Knitters) have been added to the lineup for the first annual BeachLife Ranch Country & Americana festival, also featuring Yelawolf, Devon Allman, Lukas Nelson, White Buffalo, Mike & The Moonpies and other guests.

Ice Dance International (IDI) returns to Stowe for their third fall residency presented by Spruce Peak Arts. They will welcome the Kittery, ME-based company, founded by Douglas Webster, back for their third week-long residency since their first two residencies in March of 2020 and September 2021.

After announcing the all-star headlining talent for the first annual BeachLife Ranch Country & Americana festival last month, the updated lineup includes Ashley McBryde, The Infamous Stringdusters, The White Buffalo, Drive-By Truckers, Maddie & Tae,  Jamestown Revival, Waxahatchee, Pete Yorn, Greensky Bluegrass and more to the three-day weekend.

La Jolla Playhouse has announced that Kristina Wong, Sweatshop Overlord, written and performed by Kristina Wong (who was featured in the Playhouse’s Digital WOW production of Binge), directed by Chay Yew (Playhouse’s Cambodian Rock Band), will be added to its 2022/2023 season, running September 20 – October 16.

The tour will be the band’s first since the pandemic and will follow their performance at this year’s Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival where they’re confirmed to play on June 18th alongside Tool, Flume, 21 Savage, Tobe Nwigwe, Mt. Joy, 100 Gecs and more. Check out the full list of tour dates now!

Spruce Peak Arts has announced the full line-up for the Spruce Peak Summer Concert Series on the Village Green! Four additional performances have been added to bring Rayland Baxter (June 30th), Ruston Kelly (August 4th), Jamestown Revival (August 18th), and The Lone Bellow (September 1st) to Spruce Peak!

La Jolla Playhouse has announced the final two productions for its 2022/2023 season: the world-premiere musical The Outsiders, to run February/March, 2023; and a re-imagined production of Shakespeare’s As You Like It, to run November/December, 2022.

Young Man was produced and mixed by Robert Ellis and Josh Block and bolstered by a thriving community of friends and musicians in Texas, emphasizing Jamestown Revival’s skillful songwriting, flawless harmony, and intricate fingerpicking. It’s a summer “homecoming” for Goodman Theatre audiences! On July 30, Chicago’s theater since 1925 will resume live, in-person performances following a 16-month COVID-19 pandemic period of darkened stages.

On May 28th, Jamestown Revival’s newest project, an EP titled Fireside With Louis L’Amour, will forever immortalize the guys’ love for L’Amour’s storytelling in a six-song roundup of tunes directly inspired by his short stories.

Artistic Director Robert Falls and Executive Director Roche Schulfer have announced 'Our Next Act'-Goodman Theatre's 2021 Season of eight plays on its two stages (the 856-seat Albert Theatre and 350-seat flexible Owen Theatre) scheduled to begin when it is deemed safe for audiences, artists and staff.
