Direct from sold-out performances in Asia, producer and director Mirwan Suwarso announced today that Hanoman The Musical will make its U.S. premiere at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts for three performances only. Inspired by the epic tale of Ramayana, Hanoman The Musical tells the story of the origin of one of the fiercest warriors in ancient Asian mythology. Hanoman The Musical runs Tuesday, June 25 thru Thursday, June 27, 2013 at San Jose Center for the Performing Arts in downtown San Jose (255 Almaden Boulevard). Jennifer Blood (Cole Porter's NYMPH ERRANT, The Flood, Yeast Nation), Jillian Gottlieb (The Awesome 80s Prom), Sydney James Harcourt (The Lion King, American Idiot) and A.J. Shively (La Cage Aux Folles, February House) will lead the cast of Prospect Theater Company's Off-Broadway production of UNLOCK'D. Artes de la Rosa can now confirm that casting is complete for the Fort Worth Premiere of the Tony award winning musical, In the Heights. Directed by artistic director Adam Adolfo, the Lin Manuel Miranda musical will run May 17 - June 9 at The Rose Marine Theatre. Previously announced star, Matthew Ransdell, who will play Usnavi, will be joined by costars Sarah Marie Dickerson as Vanessa, Joshua Sherman as Benny, and Lorens Portalatin as Nina. Also starring as Grafitti Pete is Michael Anthony Sylvester and Rashaun Sibley as Sonny, both of whom are making their Artes de la Rosa debut. (more...)

CHESS Opens at the Arvada Center

The Arvada Center will open the regional premiere of a new restaging of Chess, A Musical directed by Rod A. Lansberry on March 27 running through April 15, 2012 in the Main Stage Theater. Performances are Tuesday - Saturday at 7:30 pm, Wednesday at 1pm, Saturday and Sunday at 2pm. Preview performances are March 23 - 25. Moderated talkbacks with the cast are offered on Friday, April 6 after 7:30 p.m. show and Wednesday, April 11 after 1:00 p.m. show. Ticket prices range from $35 (previews) - $72.
