Civic Theatre of Allentown to Host TONYS & TAPAS Benefit, 6/9

On Sunday, June 9, the same day as the nationally televised Tony Awards Ceremony, Civic Theatre of Allentown will present its 3rd annual Tonys & Tapas Benefit to raise money for the theatre. Guests will enjoy vocal performances from recent productions, as well as appetizer samplings from some of the Valley's finest restaurants and caterers. There will also be a silent auction, open wine bar, and signature cocktails. The festivities will be held on Sunday, June 9, at 4 - 6:30 PM at the Nineteenth Street Theatre. (more...)

Michael Moore, Morgan Spurlock and More Attend DCTV's Groundbreaking in NYC

Earlier today New York City officials Kate Levin, Scott Stringer, Margaret Chin and Gale Brewer were joined by acclaimed filmmakers Michael Moore (Bowling For Columbine); Matthew O'Neill (China's Unnatural Disaster, Redemption), and Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me) at a ceremony to mark the groundbreaking of Downtown Community Television Center's new documentary-only theater. The groundbreaking marks a significant milestone for Downtown Community Television (DCTV), a cultural fixture in Lower Manhattan since 1972 founded by the award-winning filmmaking team Jon Alpert & Keiko Tsuno. Sundance Selects Picks Up ELAINE STRITCH: SHOOT ME

Sundance Selects announced today that the company is acquiring North American rights to Chiemi Karasawa's directorial debut ELAINE STRITCH: SHOOT ME, a feature documentary about the stage and screen icon that made its world premiere last week at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival. The film was produced by Karasawa and Elizabeth Hemmerdinger, and executive produced by Alec Baldwin and Cheryl Wiesenfeld. (more...)

HBO Will Not Order James Gandolfini's CRIMINAL JUSTICE to Series

According to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO has decided to pass on James Gandolfini's CRIMINAL JUSTICE pilot. The drama was based on the BBC BAFTA-award winning series from Peter Moffat. It was to be adapted for HBO by Steven Zaillian and Richard Price. Oscar-winning writer Zaillian directed and co-penned the pilot with Richard Price. (more...)
