Theater Resources Unlimited Hosts The 2019 TRU Tony Award Party

Spend the Tonys with producers, friends, and cheer on the TRU nominees! Join us for a warm and friendly, special theater-lover fundraiser co-hosted by some Tony winning friends. Enjoy the Tony Awards with TRU friends including Broadway producers who are former nominees and winners (including Ken Waissman, producer of the original Grease, Torch Song Trilogy and Agnes of God). Plus great food from Jack Doyle's on W. 35th Street. (We've got the entire 2nd floor to ourselves.) Buffet to include an appetizer platter followed by a buffet of roast sirloin of beef, chicken francaise, atlantic salmon, penne pasta, roasted potatoes, vegetables and salad bar. Plus wine with dinner, dessert, and of course a cash bar. And 5 big screen TV's!

Asolo Rep proudly kicks off its 60th season with a highly imaginative production of Meredith Willson's Tony Award-winning exuberant masterpiece THE MUSIC MAN. Directed by Tony nominee Jeff Calhoun (Newsies), this tap dancing-infused production stars legendary Broadway song and dance man Noah Racey as Harold Hill. Calhoun and Racey previously collaborated on the smash hit world premiere of Noah Racey's Pulse at Asolo Rep in 2013. The perfect family holiday outing, THE MUSIC MAN begins previews on November 13, opens November 17 and runs through December 29 in the Mertz Theatre, located in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts.

Adirondack Theatre Festival Announces 24th Summer Season

The 24th season of the Adirondack Theatre Festival will feature the golden era tap musical Front Page Flo. The show will open at the Charles R. Wood Theater, located at 207 Glen Street in downtown Glens Falls, and run on August 3rd, 4th, and 7th-9th. Performances will start at 7:30pm and will include a matinee at 2pm on August 8th. Tickets range from $32-$45 and can be purchased at the Wood Theater Box Office, online at ATFestival.org, or by calling (518) 480-4878.

The 8th Annual Shakespeare's Birthday Sonnet Slam is being held tomorrow, Friday, April 27th from 1-4pm at the Naumburg Bandshell in Central Park. Notable Sonnet readers this year include Michael Urie, Dana Ivey, Brian Soliwoda as C.P. Shakes and Perdita, the pigeon, Peter Francis James, American painter Gerri Davis and Award-winning Orchestrator Michael Starobin. The Sonnet Slam features 154 readers of all ages performing all 154 of Shakespeare's Sonnets in numerical order. The event is free to the public. This year, the kickoff Reader for Sonnet #1 will be Tony Award-nominee and Drama Desk-winner Kathleen Chalfant (Angels in America, Wit, Showtime's The Affair).
