Andrew Samonsky & Hannah Elless Will Lead Transport Group's BENNY & JOON Developmental Lab

Transport Group, the Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and OBIE Award-winning theatre company, by special arrangement with Tony Award winning producer Larry Hirschhorn, will give a private developmental lab presentation of Benny & Joon, a new musical. Based on the 1993 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture starring Aidan Quinn, Johnny Depp, and Mary Stuart Masterson, written by Barry Berman and Leslie McNeil, Benny & Joon features a book by Kirsten Guenther (Breaking Through), music by Nolan Gasser (chief musicologist of pandora.com), and lyrics by Mindi Dickstein (Little Women). Under the direction of Transport Group Artistic Director and five-time Drama Desk nominee Jack Cummings III, the cast features Andrew Samonsky as 'Benny' (Queen of the Mist), Hannah Elless as 'Joon' (Bright Star),Colin Hanlon (Submissions Only), Mamie Parris (See Rock City & Other Destinations), Zak Resnick (Piece of My Heart), Tally Sessions (House of Blue Leaves), Natalie Toro (A Tale of Two Cities), and Jason SweetTooth Williams (Things to Ruin). Abrons Arts Center Sets 2015-16 Season of Theatre, Dance & More

On February 12, 1915, the Abrons Arts Center's Henry Street Settlement Playhouse opened its doors on the Lower East Side. Since that day, it has remained a vital cultural resource, providing audiences with artistically bold work while offering artists opportunities to dynamically grow. Since becoming Abrons Director in 2006, Jay Wegman has done much more than maintain 'one of the last standing locations for avant-garde performance downtown' (The New York Times, 2009). He has created an arts venue that is unique on the city's cultural landscape, presenting an international mix of cutting-edge performing and visual artists, both established and emerging, from across the country and around the world, as well as from New York City.

Transport Group Sets THREE DAYS TO SEE Special Events

Transport Group's current production, Three Days to See, an intimate portrait of Helen Keller, will offer a number of events surrounding the disabled community. Included is an audio described performance on July 29 for the visually impaired, an open captioned performance for the hearing impaired on August 5, and talkbacks with author Dr. Beth A. Haller (July 31) and Maricar Marquez of the Helen Keller National Center (August 4).

Transport Group Theatre Company presents... THREE DAYS TO SEE, based on the words of Helen Keller and conceived & directed by Jack Cummings III. The show begins previews on July 12 for an opening night on July 26 and runs through August 16, 2015.

Transport Group to Present Helen Keller-Inspired THREE DAYS TO SEE

Transport Group, the Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and OBIE Award-winning theatre company, has announced its 2015 summer production Three Days To See, a performance piece conceived and directed by Jack Cummings III, slated to run July 12 - August 16 at Theatre 79. The cast includes Ito Aghayere (Orange is the New Black, The Liquid Plain), Patrick Boll (Mamma Mia, All the Way Home), Marc De La Cruz (If/Then, Allegiance), Theresa McCarthy (Queen of the Mist, Floyd Collins), Chinaza Uche (Bintou, The Day On Which a Man Dies), Barbara Walsh (Company, Falsettos), and Zoe Wilson. Transport Group's 2015 season will also include the previously announced revival of Once Upon a Mattress starring John 'Lypsinka' Epperson and Jackie Hoffman, slated for the fall. The previously announced musical, The Blonde Streak, has been postponed due to scheduling conflicts.

'FORUM,' 'WILD THINGS' & More Set for Two River Theater's 2015-16 Season

Two River Theater, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Dias and Managing Director Michael Hurst, announces the lineup of productions for its 2015/16 Season. The season will launch in September with August Wilson's Seven Guitars, directed by Brandon J. Dirden and will include the musical A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, directed by Jessica Stone; a new music-theater production of Shakespeare's Pericles created by Rinde Eckert and David Schweizer; and the Transport Group's critically acclaimed production of I Remember Mama, directed by Jack Cummings III.

Tony Winner Laura Benanti Returning to Host 60th Annual Drama Desk Awards!

Tony Award, and two time Drama Desk winner Laura Benanti (Gypsy, Sound of Music Live, ABC' 'Nashville') will return as host of the 60th Annual Drama Desk Awards on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at 8:00 PM at The Town Hall (123 W. 43rd Street), it was announced today by Gretchen Shugart, CEO of TheaterMania.com, and Charles Wright, Drama Desk President.
