Couples to Face Double Elimination on DANCING WITH THE STARS This Week

This week on DANCING WITH THE STARS, it's "Iconic Dance Night" and the couples have been challenged by Judge Len Goodman to deliver show-stopping routines that the series has never seen before. The 11 remaining celebrities have chosen an iconic "DWTS" dance to reinterpret, MONDAY, OCTOBER 8 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. For the first time ever, the celebrities have taken charge of the creative direction of the routine, given the responsibility for all artistic decisions relating to the performance.

Dance House Hamptons Presents First POP-UP Dance Studio, Now thru 8/2

For two weeks in July and August, 2012, East Hampton Studio will transform into America's first pop-up dance studio, as the hottest choreographers from Hollywood and Broadway hit the Hamptons for Dance House USA. Dancers of all levels will work with the best of the best to identify their "X-factor" through full days of classes, workshops, rehearsals, live nightly events, and collaboration with star choreographers, including Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba and Smash choreographer Josh Bergasse. BWW Reviews: Rocky Horror Revival Rocks Old Globe, San Diego

Judging by opening night at the Old Globe, San Diego, fan reaction to Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show is every bit as over-the-top silly as the attention paid to the 1975 cult film retitled The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Rocky Horror is a 1973(London)/74(LA)/75(Broadway) sendup of early sci fi, class B horror films and offers a curiously appealing view of some gay and wildly campy transgender lifestyles. Fans dress up as Rocky, Dr. Scott, Frank 'n' Furter and the Phantoms and scream obscenities and corny comments at the characters on stage. They also cover their heads with newspapers to avoid the rain, wave flashlights back and forth and move instep to 'The Time Warp' in the aisles. It was 1977 midnight showings of the film that started this audience participation trend, which shows no signs of stopping. (more...)

Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced the complete cast and creative team for The Old Globe's revival of Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show. Oanh Nguyen directs the classic cult musical with book, music and lyrics by Richard O'Brien, choreography by JT Horenstein and music direction by Mike Wilkins. The Rocky Horror Show will run in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, Sept. 15 - Nov. 6. Preview performances run Sept. 15 - Sept. 22. Opening night is Friday, Sept. 23 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are currently available by subscription only. Single tickets will go on sale online on Friday, Aug. 19 at midnight. Matt McGrath Replaces James Barbour in ROCKY HORROR SHOW at Old Globe this Fall

Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced that Matt McGrath will appear in the role of Frank ‘N' Furter in The Old Globe's upcoming production of Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show. McGrath appeared on Broadway as the Emcee in Sam Mendes' hit revival of Cabaret and in the international tour of Tom Waits and William S. Burroughs' The Black Rider: The Casting of the Magic Bullets directed by Robert Wilson. He has also appeared Off Broadway in Hedwig and the Angry Itch and A Fair Country at Lincoln Center Theater. McGrath replaces the previously announced James Barbour, who has departed the production. (more...)
