Signature Theatre's Sondheim Award Gala Honoring Carol Burnett Postponed Until June

Due to the public health crisis of COVID-19, Signature Theatre announced today that the 2020 Stephen Sondheim Award Gala will be postponed from April 6, 2020 until June 29, 2020.

The New York City-based Kairos Italy Theater along with the Italy-based KIT Italiana and Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò at NYU will present the eighth annual In Scena! Italian Theater Festival NY, a festival of Italian theater taking place in all five boroughs of NYC, April 27-May 11. Participating venues include Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimo' at NYU (24 West 12th Street, New York, NY 10011), Italian Cultural Institute in NY (686 Park Ave, New York, NY 10021), Advent Lutheran Church (2504 Broadway, New York, NY 10025), BAAD! - Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance (2474 Westchester Avenue, Bronx, NY 10461), South Bronx NeON Center (198 E. 161st Street Bronx, NY 10451), St. John's Lutheran Church (81 Christopher Street, New York, NY 10014), Cherry Lane Studio Theatre (38 Commerce Street, New York, NY 10014), The Brick (579 Metropolitan Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11211), Bernie Wohl Center at Goddard Riverside (647 Columbus Avenue, NY 10024), Greek Cultural Center (2680 30th Street b2, Astoria, NY 11102), Center of the Arts, College of Staten Island (2800 Victory Boulevard, Bldg 1P, Staten Island, NY 10314), and Casa Italiana Ente Promotore (595 1/2 3rd St NW, Washington, DC 20001). Admission to all shows and events in the festival will be FREE. All shows will be presented in Italian with English supertitles, unless otherwise noted. Director, writer, actor and musician Dylan Tighe, Director of The Irish Times Award Winning Best Production No Worst There is None makes his Abbey Theatre directorial debut. The title of his new and most audacious work to date succinctly encapsulates the concept of the production: In a live redubbing , Pasolini's Salò Redubbed daringly transposes Pasolini's notorious final film to Ireland. The modus-operandi of the work is to transpose the film to an Irish context line by line, scene by scene and for the new version to be performed by 7 actors in sync to the original film in its entirety.

Cinema/Chicago Announces 2019 Free Summer Screenings Program

Cinema/Chicago today announced its annual free Summer Screenings Program with a selection of 17 feature films and one short film from around the world exploring the theme of adventure. All screenings are free and open to the public and take place on Wednesdays at 6:30pm from May 29 through October 2, 2019 at the Chicago Cultural Center (78 E. Washington Street, 2nd Floor) in the Claudia Cassidy Theater. Summer Screenings is presented by Cinema/Chicago in partnership with the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and 17 consulates and cultural institutions from around the city. Italian Theater Festival NY Announces 2019 Mario Fratti Award Winner

In Scena! Italian Theater Festival NY announces Tobia Rossi's play Hide and Seek (Nascondino) as the 2019 Mario Fratti Award winner. The award ceremony will take place on Monday, May 13 at 6pm at the Italian Cultural Institute (686 Park Ave, New York, NY 10021) where the reading of the translation of the play, made by the official translator of the award Carlotta Brentan, will be presented together with the award to playwright Tobia Rossi. Special mention goes to Ulisse-L'ultimo Inganno by Antonia Brancati in second place and third place goes to L'Annunciazione by Pasquale Faraco.
