Conservatives, Liberals, Punkers, Rocker Girls, Fairies, maintenance workers, Uptown, Downtown and the Central Park of Athens slam together in The Art of Acting Studio and the Harold Clurman Lab Theater’s presentation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Directed by Don K. Williams, Midsummer is set in “Athens” where neo-conservative lawmakers outlaw love; punk kings, rocker queens and Clockwork Orange droogs rule the Central Park; a band of sanitations workers dream of stardom; and the power of love (and “potions”) makes all right in the world. Previews began April 20, prior to an official press opening of Friday, April 27, at the Cherry Lane Studio Theatre (38 Commerce Street) in Manhattan. Ronald Cohen will direct.
