National Alliance for Musical Theatre Announces $37,000 in Grants by BWW News Desk - Apr 15, 2013
The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announces 11 awards granted from their National Fund for New Musicals, a major funding program to support NAMT member not-for-profit theatres in their collaborations with writers to create, develop and produce new musicals. Now in its fifth year, the Fund will provide grants totaling $37,000 to 11 organizations across the country. (more...)

BWW Reviews: Legendary Marilyn Maye's 'Maye-den Voyage' at 54 Below is Sensationally Smooth Sailing by Stephen Hanks - Mar 08, 2013
Wednesday night was the second of Marilyn Maye's first 54 Below run (which will continue until March 16) and she sashayed around the stage in front of an almost full house like a woman of 35. Like most of her shows, Maye's performance was a 'live' cabaret Master Class for budding cabaret performers and seasoned professionals alike, and this 'Maye-den Voyage' never went adrift (thanks in part to solid and unobtrusive support from Tedd Frith on piano, Tom Hubbard on bass, and Jim Eklof on drums). CAP21's Writers Residency Concludes by BWW News Desk - Jan 24, 2013
The CAP21 Writers Residency January 2013, concluded this past Friday in New York City. The residency provides 80 hours of free space, a stipend, and guidance from the Artistic Director, Eliza Ventura. Selected writers are chosen and given the opportunity to begin or further develop new musicals in a supportive and focused environment. (more...)

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) announced that open submissions to the Next Link Project, which guarantees production slots in the 2013 Festival, will begin today, September 17th. Registration runs through November 2 and those who submit materials by Friday, October 5 will receive a $20 discount off the standard $75 application fee. The season will include the previously announced world-premiere of Harmony, Kansas, a new musical; an imaginative staging of Pippin; the first full-scale production of the new play, when last we flew; a comedy about family, Birds of a Feather; and, the hilarious farce, The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabbler.
