New British Invasion Band Vertical Expression Plays for NYC Contra Dance Tonight by BWW News Desk - Apr 27, 2013
Country Dance*New York will present a lively contra dance tonight, April 27th, from 8:00 pm to 10:45 pm at the Church of the Village (201 West 13th Street, Manhattan). No previous experience is required and it is not necessary to come with a partner. From 7:30 pm to 8:00 pm there is a beginners' workshop, and the caller walks everyone through the patterns of each dance. Vibrant and spirited music will be performed by what is probably the U.K's most high energy contra dance band, Vertical Expression, making their Manhattan debut. (more...)

Know Theatre of Cincinnati Presents COCK, Opening 4/12 by BWW News Desk - Apr 08, 2013
Know Theatre has announced the regional premiere of COCK by Mike Bartlett as our next mainstage production. This will be only the second American production following its premiere at the Royal Court Theatre, London. COCK opens April 12, 2013 and runs through May 11, 2013. BrIan Robertson, who currently teaches in the Theatre and Dance Department at Northern Kentucky University, will direct this production. Some of his past directing credits include Camelot at the Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center and A Flowering Tree at Cincinnati Opera. COCK features performances from Darnell Pierre Benjamin, Kevin Thornton, Danielle Knox, and George Alexander. (more...)

Net2TV Corporation (www.net2television.com), a smart TV media company, will begin offering CINEQUEST Film Festival films on its Portico smart TV service beginning this Friday, February 1. The feature-length CINEQUEST films come from independent filmmakers worldwide. Portico, which was launched in December 2012, features free, ad-supported programming from CBS Interactive's CHOW.com, Popular Science, Discovery's Revision3, WSJ Live from The Wall Street Journal and now CINEQUEST.

Upright Citizen Brigade has announced January extension dates for The 2017 Tony Awardz, a musical parody by Stephanie Streisand and Rocco Privetera. Performances will be held Monday, January 2nd and 9th, 2013 at 8:00pm (with future dates to be announced). Evan Greenspoon (Jest) directs a cast of seven including Stephanie Streisand (Late Night with Jimmy Fallon), Michael Hartney(30 Rock, Small Time), Richard "Big Rich" Armstead, Adam Bozarth, Caroline Cotter, Matthew Frazier, and Douglas Widick.
