2013 Juno Awards Winners Announced

Tonight, April 12, 2013, The New York Pops continues its 30th season with an evening celebrating the 65th birthday of Stephen Schwartz and the 10th anniversary of his hit musical Wicked with The Wizard and I: The Musical Journey of Stephen Schwartz. Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke will lead the orchestra as they perform highlights from some of the composer-lyricist's most beloved works. The concert features Tony Award nominee Jeremy Jordan (Newsies), Tony Award nominee Norm Lewis (The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess), Drama Desk Award nominee Julia Murney (The Wild Party), Tony Award nominee Jennifer Laura Thompson (Urinetown), and Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA. AT THE RIVER, KISS ME, KATE and More Set for Boston Landmarks Orchestra's 2013 Season

The Boston Landmarks Orchestra (LO) announces its 2013 summer season at the DCR's historic Hatch Shell on Boston's Esplanade along the Charles River, and additional concerts and educational activities in Boston's neighborhoods. Concerts at the Hatch Shell take place every Wednesday at 7 pm, beginning July 17 and running through August 28. Neighborhood event times vary. All concerts are free. (more...)

On October 4, 2013, The New York Pops orchestra - famous for presenting popular programs with a symphony orchestra of the highest quality - will launch its 31st season, a Carnegie Hall series celebrating the stylistic diversity of some of popular music's greatest icons. Music Director Steven Reineke - described by The New York Times as a 'polished, welcoming host' who is 'young and vigorous, with a playful attitude' - will lead the orchestra in a highly anticipated concert season including a night of jazz standards revitalized by international trumpet sensation Chris Botti; a tribute to big band legend Benny Goodman with Montego Glover and clarinetist Dave Bennett; a jolly holiday concert with stage star Ashley Brown; an intimate evening with Broadway's Golden Couple, Marin Mazzie and Jason Danieley; and a season closer featuring the orchestra and some of the most beloved music written for the silver screen. The soundtrack will be available both digitally and as a 2 CD set. Ravinia Festival Offers Sneak Peek of 2013 Classical Concert Season

Ravinia Festival today presented a "sneak peek" at its 2013 classical music concert season, which includes a performance of Vaughan Williams's Serenade to Music in celebration of the 25th th anniversary of Ravinia's Steans Music Institute, performed by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and vocalists from the festival's summer conservatory along with Itzhak Perlman on the same program; the return of pianist Lang Lang to the gala stage that launched him to superstardom; a commemoration of Verdi's bicentennial with Ravinia Festival Music Director James Conlon conducting the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chorus in a complete concert performance of Aida, this year's One Score, One Chicago selection; and the CSO performing Howard Shore's score to The Lord of the Rings-The Two Towers, while the entire film is broadcast on video screens in the pavilion and on the lawn-this has been the most requested CSO concert at Ravinia in decades, following the popularity of the trilogy's first film in concert here two summers ago. WaterTower Music has announced the release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Original Motion Picture Soundtrack at all retailers on December 11th. The soundtrack will be available both digitally and as a 2 CD set. A Special Edition of the soundtrack featuring six exclusive bonus tracks, seven extended score cues, and deluxe liner notes will also be available December 11. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey features original score by Academy Award® winner Howard Shore recorded at famed Abbey Road studios by the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Additionally it includes an original song entitled "Song of the Lonely Mountain," written and performed by Neil Finn (Crowded House). The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, the first of a trilogy of films from Oscar-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings Trilogy), will be released in the U.S. on December 14, 2012.
