On this show Kissel, who was a writer, actor and frequent contributor to the series, guided viewers through this landmark of the American theater and shared stories about the people and events connected with it. The Broadway community mourns the loss of Howard Kissel, the long-time theater critic for The Daily News, who passed away on Friday night at the age of 69. The marquees of Broadway theaters in New York will be dimmed in his memory tomorrow night, Tuesday, February 28th, at exactly 7:00 p.m. for one minute. ( more...)

Review Roundup: Encores! MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG

Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along, the first New York City Center Encores! production of the season, opens tonight, February 8 at New York City Center, and features Colin Donnell, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Elizabeth Stanley, Betsy Wolfe and Adam Grupper. Merrily We Roll Along, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by George Furth, is directed by James Lapine with music direction by Rob Berman and musical staging by Dan Knechtges.
