Cameron Mackintosh’s new 25th anniversary production of Les Misérables welcomes Peter Lockyer to the role of Jean Valjean beginning in East Lansing, MI, at Wharton Center on April 5, 2012. This week also marks the debut of Timothy Gulan as Thénardier, Lauren Wiley as Cosette, and Jason Forbach as Enjolras. The all new production of Les Misérables features glorious new staging and spectacular reimagined scenery inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo. The production plays Wharton Center through April 8 followed by Indianapolis, IN at Clowes Memorial Hall April 10-15 and Greenville, SC at The Peace Center April 17-22. ( more...)

Utah Native to Play Jean Valjean in Les Misérables for the Utah Shakespeare Festival

The Utah Shakespeare Festival recently announced the casting of J. Michael Bailey, a Utah actor, to play the lead role of Jean Valjean in the epic musical Les Misérables. After conducting a national casting search in New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles, artistic directors David Ivers and Brian Vaughn found Bailey in the Festival’s own backyard. ( more...)

Schonberg, Boublil and Kretzmer Write New Song for LES MIS Movie!

The highly-anticipated film adaptation of Les Miserables will open in movie theatre in December, and according to Daily Mail, the movie will feature brand-new music by the original song writing team. Baz Bamigboye reports that Claude-Michel Schonberg, Alain Boublil and Herbert Kretzmer wrote a song called 'Suddenly' for the movie. ( more...)

Ramin Karimloo Extends LES MIS Run Through March 31; David Shannon, Gerónimo Rauch Join Cast in Spring

Cameron Mackintosh announced today that Ramin Karimloo will extend his run playing ‘Jean Valjean’ in the legendary musical “LES MISÉRABLES” at the Queen’s Theatre until 31 March 2012. David Shannon will then return to the role of ‘Jean Valjean’ from Tuesday 3 April – Saturday 16 June 2012. He will be followed by Gerónimo Rauch who will play the role from Monday 18 June 2012 until Saturday 15 June 2013 ( more...)
