On October 16-21, Kennessaw State University presents Kander and Ebb's Tony Award-Winning Broadway classic, Cabaret. Performances are Tuesday-Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 2pm at the Howard Logan Stillwell Theatre.
This production features choreography by the Off-Broadway choreographer and acclaimed tap dancer Jen MacQueen, who recently choreographed both the new chamber version of Sweet Charity and the premiere of Clyde 'n' Bonnie the musical. (more...)

Rehearsals have begun at Milton High School for their production of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE. This show will perform March 14-17, directed by Renee Denney and music directed by Leigh Ann Shaw. The cast is full of experienced high schoolers, some of whom also appeared in Milton's successful production of HAIRSPRAY in spring 2011. It will feature choreography by the Off-Broadway choreographer and acclaimed tap dancer Jen MacQueen, who choreographed the recent Atlanta production of A Chorus Line at Aurora Theatre, for which she received a BroadwayWorld (Atlanta) Award Nomination for Best Choreography in a Musical. Old Globe Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced the complete cast and creative team for the world premiere of Sammy, a new musical based on the life of Sammy Davis, Jr. with book, music and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse, and additional songs by Bricusse and Anthony Newley. Directed by Keith Glover with choreography by Keith Young and music supervision by Ian Fraser, Sammy will run in the Old Globe Theatre Sept. 19 - Nov. 8. Previews run from Sept. 19 - Oct. 1. Tap Legacy Foundation Celebrates 20th Anniversary 2/14/09 by BWW News Desk - Feb 14, 2009
The Tap Legacy Foundation, dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the art of tap dance, celebrates the anniversary of its founding on Saturday, February 14, 2009 with a 20th anniversary screening of the classic 1989 dance film, Tap, starring Gregory Hines and Sammy Davis, Jr., at the Directors Guild Theatre in NYC. The screening will be preceded by an announcement of the launch of the Foundation's first Capital Campaign, and followed by a Champagne Reception for all ticket holders. In honor of the film's anniversary, the first 50 ticket buyers will be able to purchase tickets at the 1989 ticket price of $7.00(regular prices are $25). Tickets will go on sale December 1. The Tap Legacy Foundation, dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the art of tap dance, celebrates the anniversary of its founding on Saturday, February 14, 2009 with a 20thAnnviersary screening of the classic 1989 dance film, Tap, starring Gregory Hines and Sammy Davis, Jr., at the Directors Guild Theatre in NYC. Gregory Hines co-founded Tap Legacy Foundation (TLF) which is dedicated to preserving and advancing the art of tap dance, in 2002 with Andrew J. Nemr. The Foundation champions the cultural contribution tap dancers have made over the years and presents programs developed to ensure that the art form continues to thrive.
Note: February 14 has special significance to the Foundation. It is the 7th Anniversary of its founding, it is Gregory Hines' birthday, and it is the 20th Anniversary of the opening of the film, Tap.
Tap, directed by Nick Castle, starred some of the world's greatest living tap dancers of the time: Gregory Hines, Sammy Davis, Jr., Harold Nicholas, Sandman Sims, Bunny Briggs, Steve Condos, Jimmy Slyde, Arthur Duncan, Henry LeTang and a young Savion Glover. The film maintains a special place in tap dance history, signifying the success of the grass roots resurgence which began in the 1970's and the beginning of the new wave of tap dancers lead by Savion Glover.
