Saturday, February 2, 2013 marks Symphony Space's fourth annual The Music of Now Marathon. The genre-defying eight-hour concert (4 pm - midnight) is curated by Artistic Director Laura Kaminsky and hosted by WQXR's Terrance McKnight in the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theater. From electronic experimentation to post-minimalism, spectralist sonorities to Latin jazz, the Music of Now Marathon offers an outstanding opportunity to discover a broad range of new music by emerging and established creators. Bajofondo Announce North American Tour by BWW News Desk - Feb 13, 2013
Latin Grammy-winning band Bajofondo announce they will tour throughout North America in March and April in support of their forthcoming album Presente due out March 5 on Sony Masterworks. The band creates the contemporary sound of the Rio de La Plata, the river that separates and unites Argentina and Uruguay. Their inimitable sound uses the region's rich musical legacy of tango, folklore, and milonga as a foundation for their genre-defying compositions that fearlessly cross-pollinate them with other styles. On stage, Bajofondo's eight members use traditional instruments like bandoneón alongside live video mixing, samples, and scratches to spellbinding effect. The biggest night in gaming just got bigger. Spike TV's "VGA TEN" (#VGA), the network's tenth annual live televised event to celebrate the best in video games, will feature appearances by returning hosts, Snoop Lion and Zachary Levi and a special video cameo from Neil Patrick Harris. Presenters will include Jessica Alba, Marlon Wayans, Adam Scott and Norman Reedus and Steven Yeun from "The Walking Dead," among others. Gustavo Santaolalla is scheduled for a live musical performance while Wolfgang Gartner will perform as the House DJ throughout the entire show. "VGA TEN" will premiere LIVE from Sony Picture Studios in Culver City, CA on Friday, December 7 at 9:00 PM ET/6:00 PM PT on Spike TV.
