Family Concert by LA Chamber Orchestra Set for 2/26

PROJECT Trio joins the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO) and guest conductor Jacomo Bairos for the first of LACO's 2012 Family Concerts series on Sunday, February 26, 2012, 2 pm, at the Alex Theatre in Glendale. PROJECT Trio, with its wildly eclectic mix of jazz, hip-hop and rock sounds and appearances on Nickelodeon and MTV, performs a high-octane twist on Copland's Appalachian Spring and other original works in its debut as LACO's Family Concerts artists-in-residence for the next three seasons. Bairos, who enjoys an international career as a conductor and educator, makes his LACO debut with this performance.

Case Scaglione, Joshua Weilerstein Named Assistant Conductors of NY Philharmonic

Case Scaglione, age 28, and Joshua Weilerstein, 23, have been named New York Philharmonic Assistant Conductors for the 2011-12 season. They will assist Music Director Alan Gilbert, The Yoko Nagae Ceschina Chair, and all guest conductors throughout the season, and will lead educational events, including School Day Concerts and Young People's Concerts.

Case Scaglione, age 28, and Joshua Weilerstein, 23, have been named New York Philharmonic Assistant Conductors for the 2011-12 season. Rehearsals begin today, Monday, April 5 for the World Premiere production of PARADISE FOUND, a new musical under the combined direction of Theater legend and 21-time Tony Award winner Harold Prince (the original productions of Cabaret, Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music, The Phantom of the Opera, Company, Follies, Evita) and 5-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman (Crazy For You, Show Boat, The Producers, Contact). This is their first collaboration since the landmark, Tony Award-winning revival of Show Boat. Following the New York rehearsal period, the production will open at London's acclaimed Menier Chocolate Factory with performances running May 19 through June 26.

Sixteen-year-old rising star Ilyich Rivas will lead the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park in his U.S. professional debut on Saturday, August 15, 2009, at 8:00 p.m. Mr. Rivas will lead the orchestra in Verdi's Vespri Overture, Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4, and Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto, performed by another rising star, 22-year-old violinist, and Sphinx Competition winner, Elena Urioste.
