Idina Menzel Joins Roundabout Spring Gala, Honoring John Lithgow

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director/CEO) announces Idina Menzel will join the 2019 Gala evening celebrating John Lithgow with The Jason Robards Award for Excellence in Theatre on Monday, February 25, 2019 at the Ziegfeld Ballroom. Menzel will perform a unique concert created exclusively for the special occasion.

The Acting Company (Ian Belknap, Artistic Director; Elisa Spencer-Kaplan, Executive Director) honored director and artistic leader Bill Rauch and the married civic leaders Barbaralee Diamonstein-Spielvogel and Ambassador Carl Spielvogel- individuals whose exemplary work aligns with the artistic and educational ideals of the storied repertory company that produces nationally recognized theater productions and arts education programs-at the Company's 2018 Fall Gala, on November 12. Held at the historic Metropolitan Club (One East 60th Street), the event raised nearly $400,000 and brought together awards, live entertainment, silent and live auctions, dinner, and cocktails in celebration of theater and its contribution to American society. Tony Award-winner and The Acting Company alumna Harriet Harris hosted, with performances by Joanna A. Jones (Hamilton) and Tatiana Wechsler, featuring Russ Kaplan's Broadway Jazz.

Hunter Theater Project's ecstatically reviewed debut production of Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya that left Ben Brantley, The New York Times, feeling "shivery, teary-eyed and stunned," with a "career-high performance" from Jay O. Sanders in the title role, has announced its final extension through Sunday, November 18. $37 single tickets and $15 student tickets are available at www.huntertheaterproject.org, or at the Hunter College Box Office at the Kaye Theater (East 68th Street between Lexington and Park Avenues).

THE RUSSIAN & THE JEW To Receive World Premiere at The Tank

The Tank (Meghan Finn and Rosalind Grush, Artistic Directors) in association with Anna & Kitty, Inc. will present the World Premiere of The Russian & The Jew, a political fairy tale about anti-semitism and female friendship in the Soviet Union in 1968, co-written by Liba Vaynberg and Emily Louise Perkins and directed by Ines Braun at The Tank (312 West 36th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues), December 4-20.

There are very few bargains left in New York City, but $37 buys you access to a production that left Ben Brantley, The New York Times, "shivery, teary-eyed and stunned." Hunter Theater Project's ecstatically reviewed debut production of Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya, featuring what Brantley called a "career-high performance" from Jay O. Raab) announced a two-week extension today for the critically acclaimed New York premiere of Anton Chekhov's UNCLE VANYA, directed by Richard Nelson, at the Frederick Loewe Theater (E. 68th Street between Lexington and Park Ave). Translated by Richard Nelson, Richard Pevear, and Larissa Volokhonsky, and directed by Nelson, UNCLE VANYA began performances on Friday, September 7 and was originally scheduled to run through October 14.

 Hunter College President Jennifer J. Raab announced today the inaugural production of the Hunter Theater Project, the New York premiere of Anton Chekhov's UNCLE VANYA at the Frederick Loewe Theater at Hunter College (E. 68th Street and Lexington Avenue), directed by Richard Nelson. Translated byRichard Nelson, Richard Pevear, and Larissa Volokhonsky. This production is the first time renowned Russian literature translators Pevear and Volokhonsky will have a work premiere in New York City, following the show's world premiere at The Old Globe in San Diego, California. Previews for UNCLE VANYA begin Friday, September 7. The production runs through Sunday, October 14, with an official press opening on Sunday, September 16. Tickets are on sale now.
