Giovanna Sardelli to Direct Barrington Stage's World Premiere of MUCKRAKERS, 6/13-7/6

Barrington Stage Company (BSC), the award-winning theatre in downtown Pittsfield, MA, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, presents the world premiere production of Muckrakers, a new play by Zayd Dohrn, directed by Giovanna Sardelli (BSC's The North Pool and Lord of the Flies). Muckrakers begins previews Thursday, June 13, opens Wednesday, June 19 and will run through Saturday, July 6 at the St. Germain Stage, at the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center, 36 Linden Street, Pittsfield. Brian Anthony Wilson, Tim Daly and More Set for DTF's Upcoming Season

A host of Broadway talent as well as several film and television stars will be appearing on the Dorset Theatre Festival stage this summer. Tim Daly, well known for his work on Wings (NBC) and Private Practice (ABC) will headline in the first production of the season, Theresa Rebeck's The Scene. Joining him will be Geoffrey Arend (ABC's Body of Proof) and well-known NY stage actress Mary Bacon (most recently seen in the Michael John LaChiusa/Sybille Pearson musical Giant as well as on Bway in Tom Stoppard's Rock 'n' Roll). They will be joined by newcomer Carolyn Holding (The Philadelphia Story/Chautauqua). Adrienne Campbell-Holt will direct the production. (more...)

Six children whose parents were on the blacklist of the 1950s will gather for a panel discussion after today's April 14, 5:00pm performance of Finks, playwright Joe Gilford's fictionalized account of his parents, Jack Gilford and MAdeline Lee Gilford, and their real life experience of the blacklist, at the Ensemble Studio Theatre, 549 West 52nd Street. THE WHIPPING MAN Opens at Marin Theatre Tonight

Marin Theatre Company, in a co-production with Virginia Stage Company, stages the regional premiere of Matthew Lopez's Civil War drama The Whipping Man in Mill Valley from March 28 to April 21, 2013. MTC's artistic director Jasson Minadakis directs the production. Featuring popular Bay Area actors L. Peter Callender, Nicholas Pelczar and Tobie Windham, as well as the design team from MTC's 2011 San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award nominated production of Tennessee Williams's The Glass Menagerie, this co-production rehearsed and ran at VSC in Norfolk, Virginia, from February 26 to March 17, 2013, before tonight's move to MTC. Opening night at MTC is tonight, April 2. (more...)

Finks is playwright Joe Gilford's fictionalized account of his parents, Jack Gilford and Madeline Lee Gilford, and their real life experience of the blacklist. It is a tale of a scoundrel time, a time of paranoia, loyalty and betrayal, show business and show trials, told from the life of two young entertainers who, at the birth of their careers, had to confront the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC).
