The legendary stage musical CARRIE will soon be available for licensing from R&H Theatricals, and its score will be published by Imagem Music, each a division of the Imagem Music Group. Based on Stephen King's best-selling novel, CARRIE features music by Academy Award winner Michael Gore (Fame, Terms of Endearment), lyrics by Academy Award winner Dean Pitchford (Fame, Footloose), and a book by Lawrence D. "I feel great - calm and good! My husband came in and told me this morning. We both had messages on our phones because we had them off. I try not to put too much pressure on the situation. He told me to wake up and it was a great way to start the day! This one feels different for me. I'm so excited and relieved- it makes you feel good and validated, though I hate to admit it. It feels very overindulgent because the show had been so fun, easy, and effortless. I love the people involved and it's been the icing on an already big cake. Colin Donnell, who currently plays the role of 'Billy Crocker' in Anything Goes, is set to depart the production on April 29. Bill English, who played the role while Donnell was filming a pilot in January, will take over started May 1. (more...)

Ghostlight Records this week went into the recording studio with the cast of Carrie, to record the first-ever cast album. Release dates for the album will be announced at a later time. The cast recording of Carrie will be produced by the show's composer Michael Gore alongside multi-Grammy Award-winner Joel Moss, with Ghostlight Records' Kurt Deutsch serving as Executive Producer. Acclaimed composer/writer/performer David Yazbek will return to the stage at Joe’s Pub with his remarkable band for the first time in four years. The concert will take place Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 7:30pm and will feature songs from Yazbek’s album “Evil Monkey Man” on Ghostlight Records, plus new works and songs from his other albums and his recent Broadway show Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. Michael Riedel reports in today's New York Post that Lincoln Center Theater "wants the Beaumont for its next big production — a revival of THE KING AND I starring Kelli O’Hara." BroadwayWorld.com first reported back in 2011 that the theatre was considering a Bartlett Sher helmed revival of the classic show. Renowned investigative theatre company The Civilians celebrates its 2011-2012 season with the presentation of its first ever Civilian of the Year Award. The Civilians will honor Robert Hammond, co-founder of The High Line, at its 2012 Benefit on April 23rd at the Highline Ballroom Hammond will be fêted by the company’s Associate Artists as well as additional stage and screen stars in a one-night-only performance of interviews and songs by Michael J. Friedman (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) about Hammond and the creation of The High Line put together in The Civilians’ signature investigative style. Interviewees for this unique performance include Amanda Burden (Director of the Department of City Planning), Florent Morellet (Restaurant Owner), and Bronson van Wyck (Event Planner). (more...)

Jim Caruso and Billy Stritch will be performing swinging standards at the legendary Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle Hotel every Sunday in June from 9pm – 12 midnight. The two performers, who have performed extensively on their own, gained national exposure together as the host and musical director of the open mic Cast Party, which celebrates talent every Monday at Birdland in NYC, and tours nationally. Stars of both stage and screen joined the celebration when the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning Vineyard Theatre honored Tony Award-winner Linda Lavin at the Off-Broadway company’s annual Gala on Monday, March 12 at the Hudson Theater in Manhattan. Ms. Lavin made her Vineyard Theatre debut earlier this season in the critically acclaimed production of Nicky Silver’s play THE LYONS and will again star in THE LYONS when the play moves to Broadway next month starting April 5 at the Cort Theatre.
