HALF THE SKY MOVEMENT: THE GAME Launches on Facebook

Pulitzer-Prize winning authors Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn announced this morning the March 4th launch of the latest installment of the Half the Sky Movement: a web-based game. Half the Sky Movement: The Game is a game-based adventure that aims to reach mainstream audiences to raise awareness and donations to empower women and girls around the world. The groundbreaking Facebook game introduces direct virtual-to-real-life translation, achieved by inviting players to move through a series of quests and stories related to real-world challenges that women and girls face, with issue-specific solutions provided by seven nonprofit organizations: The Fistula Foundation, GEMS, Heifer International, ONE, Room to Read, United Nations Foundation, and World Vision. The game is executive produced by Games for Change, a nonprofit that catalyzes social impact through digital games, and all its revenue is directed to charitable causes. (more...)

ASPiRE's Original Series THE ROOT 100 to Premiere 12/5

ASPiRE today announced the world premiere of its new original series, THE ROOT 100. Hosted by Emmy®-winning television journalist and CNN Anchor Suzanne Malveaux, the weekly show is based on online news and commentary site The Root's (www.theroot.com) fourth annual list of 100 of the most influential African-American innovators of the next generation (age 25-45). Featuring first-hand interviews and video profiles of 24 of the list's honorees, THE ROOT 100 explores the lives and groundbreaking accomplishments of these dynamic men and women. The eight-episode series airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. beginning Dec. 5.

Beverly Hills Jewelers Layna & Alan Friedman are no strangers to custom designs, but when approached by Roger Matthews, boyfriend (now fiance) of Jersey Shore's Jenni 'JWoww' Farley, to design an engagement ring, the design concept needed to be big and bold. As Layna Friedman stated, 'A woman never brings back a diamond for being too big.' The end result of months of planning with Roger was a cushion-cut diamond that's more than 5 carats surrounded by 2.5 carats of pink and white diamonds in a hand-made 18 Kt. white-gold setting...and of course was accompanied by a skydiving proposal and acceptance by Jenni.
