Stephen Byrd & Alia Jones Join THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL Producing Team by BWW News Desk - Jan 10, 2013
Producers NELLE NUGENT and KENNETH TEATON welcome STEPHEN BYRD and ALIA JONES as producing partners on the Broadway production of THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL, starring Academy Award nominee and three-time Emmy Award winner CICELY TYSON, Academy Award winner CUBA GOODING, JR, (Jerry Maguire, Red Tails), Emmy Award nominee and recording star VANESSA WILLIAMS (Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives), and Tony Award nominee CONDOLA RASHAD (Lifetime's Steel Magnolias, Broadway's Stick Fly). Directed by MICHAEL WILSON, this 14-week limited engagement will begin previews on Easter Sunday, March 31st at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre (124 W 43rd St). The NAACP Beverly Hills/Hollywood Branch announced the complete list of honorees for the 22(nd) Annual NAACP Theatre Awards. The show will be held on Monday, November 5, 2012 at the Directors Guild of America in Hollywood and will feature performances by Tichina Arnold (Everyone Hates Chris) and Shoshana Bean (Wicked). The Broadway production of Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire was awarded the Extraordinary Excellence in Diversity on Broadway Award for the 2011-2012 Season from Actors' Equity Association (AEA) on Tuesday. The show, produced by Front Row Productions (Stephen Byrd, Alia Jones-Harvey), received the honor at a presentation at Equity headquarters. Christine Toy Johnson and Julia Breanetta Simpson (AEA Co-chairs Eastern Regional Equal Employment Opportunity Committee) presented the award, which turns the spotlight onto those doing exemplary work to promote the goals of diversity, inclusion and equal opportunity in theatre.

A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE to Take Broadhurst Theatre? by Rialto Chatter - Jan 25, 2012
Michael Riedel reports in the New York Post today that the upcoming revival of A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, which has been hunting for a theatre since this past summer, will take Broadway's Broadhurst Theatre (which had been booked by REBECCA up until yesterday) for a Spring 2012 opening.

Daphne Rubin-Vega, Wood Harris Join Broadway's A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE by BWW News Desk - Aug 23, 2011
Stephen Byrd and Alia Jones have announced that the role of 'Stella' will be played by two-time Tony Nominee Daphne Rubin-Vega and the role of 'Mitch' will be played by Wood Harris, in the upcoming Broadway production of A Streetcar Named Desire directed by Emily Mann. They will join Blair Underwood as 'Stanley' and Nicole Ari Parker as 'Blanche'. This production is slated to hit the boards, Spring, 2012. Theatre is TBA. (more...)

Nicole Ari Parker to Star in Broadway's A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE by BWW News Desk - Aug 05, 2011
According to Black Star News, Nicole Ari Parker will star opposite Blair Underwood in the upcoming Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire, directed by Emily Mann. Parker will play Blanche Du Bois in the production, which is set to open in the spring of 2012. (more...)

The Hollywood Reporter has reveals today that A Streetcar Named Desire will get a Broadway revival in the spring of 2012, directed by Emily Mann and starring The Event's Blair Underwood as Stanley Kowalski. The production will be presented on Broadway by Front Row Productions. This will be the nineth revival of the famous Tennessee Williams play, the most recent being in 2005 starring the late Natasha Richardson, Amy Ryan and John C. Reilly. (more...)
