Slow & Steady Records Announces Release of Brass Magic's Fanfare

Slow & Steady Records announces the release of Brass Magic's third album, Fanfare, which finds the Oakland-based “horns and drums” band building on its foundation of bringing non-traditional grooves, textures and influences into the brass band tradition. More so than previous albums, Fanfare finds Brass Magic in an exploratory phase. “On previous recordings, we primarily wrote 'danceable' music,” says drummer Adam Starkopf. “For this recording, we wanted to fuse our roots in creative American music with our brass band instrumentation.”

Ovation TV Sets Premiere Date for Third and Final Season of X COMPANY

Ovation, America's only arts network, has announced the premiere date for the third and final season of X Company. Inspired by the true story of Camp X, a top-secret Allied spy training facility in Lake Ontario, the series stars Evelyne Brochu (Orphan Black), Jack Laskey (Endeavour), Hugh Dillon (Flashpoint, Continuum), Warren Brown (Luther, Strike Back), Connor Price (Being Human), Torben Liebrecht (Homeland) and Lara Jean Chorostecki (Designated Survivor, Hannibal). Season Three of X Company will debut on Monday, August 20th at 10pm ET / 7pm PT on Ovation.

In a 40-year career, her first love, the theatre, has seen her work with the National Theatre and RSC, amongst others. Now she stars in Philip Ridley's modern classic, Vincent River, currently playing at Park Theatre.

This play took me 28 years. 1988 marked the 70th anniversary of the end of the First World War. To commemorate it, an 'Armistice Festival' was held in London, which, like the Edinburgh Festival, included a fringe open to anyone. I am ashamed to admit that I was a rather precocious 18 year old, and called the director of the festival, Tim McHenry, to suggest to him my idea of a one-man play about war poet Wilfred Owen.
