Next to Normal is coming to Sydney for a strictly limited season playing at the Capitol Theatre from 13 September to 7 October 2012. Director Tyran Parke today announced the cast who will perform in this groundbreaking musical that follows the life of the Goodman’s – who seem like a perfect family. The musical, with music by Tom Kitt and book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey, stars Ian Stenlake, Bobby Fox, Dash Kruk, Michelle Doake, Ross Hannaford and Erica Lovell. (more...)

A group of cast members from Dancing with the Stars: Live in Las Vegas attended JERSEY BOYS at Paris Las Vegas yesterday evening, May 22, including Joey Fatone, Tia Carrere, Lacey Schwimmer, and Sabrina Bryan. Timing just seems right for the four men who make up Under the Streetlamp—the quartet that’s taking American stages by storm this summer—to share their mantra that “retro never sounded so now!” with the legions of fans of “The American Radio Songbook of the ‘50’s, ‘60’s and ‘70’s” while bringing a whole new audience over to their side of the musical dial. The four—Christopher Kale Jones, Shonn Wiley and the two Michaels: Cunio and Ingersoll—will be singing to the faithful when their first national tour brings them to Nashville’s Tennessee Performing Arts Center for a June 14 performance (curtain’s at 7:30 p.m.) at the James K. JERSEY BOY Michael Lomenda has called Chicago his touring-home for just over a month, but the closest Starbucks to The Bank of America Theater, where the first national touring cast of Jersey Boys is currently playing its 9 week run, has rooted itself firmly in his routine. He also calls a brownstone with fellow cast members in Wrigleyville his place of residence, has mastered the el (and gotten plenty of compliments while doing so), and taken in the cityÂ’s architectural feats on boat tours. Featuring song selections from the 1940s through present day, the set list includes songs made popular by such artists as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen and of course, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Coppola understudied and performed the role of Frankie Valli in the Chicago production of the Broadway hit. (more...)

Original Four Seasons frontman Frankie Valli recently visited WCBSFM, where he chatted about the Broadway hit JERSEY BOYS making its way to the big screen. While he was there he revealed that the film, set to feature a screenplay by John Logan, will begin filming next year and will be released by the end of 2013. The Lied Center for Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has announced its 23nd season of world-class performing artists. The 2012-13 season includes 52 performances of 36 shows from a wide range of categories including Broadway, popular music, comedy, dance, classical music, world music and jazz, family offerings and theater. John Travolta's wife and actress, Kelly Preston, attended JERSEY BOYS at Paris Las Vegas yesterday, April 26. Preston attended the show for the first time last night after her husband and daughter, Ella, had seen it in New York and raved about it. Ella attended the show again with her mom along with a group of close friends. The group went backstage after the performance to meet the cast and Preston remarked that there was more exceptional music in this production than in almost any show she has ever seen. (more...)

The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall has just completed one of the most successful seasons in the theaterÂ’s forty-two year history, surpassing last seasonÂ’s sales. This yearÂ’s sales were $6,207,790 and 108,737 tickets sold, while last yearÂ’s sales were $5,559,227 and 99,946 tickets sold. This amount consists of Van Wezel presented Main Stage performances only, and does not take into account local companies, event rentals, and Van Wezel Schooltime performances. (more...)
