Soho Rep's A PUBLIC READING OF AN UNPRODUCED SCREENPLAY ABOUT THE DEATH OF WALT DISNEY Will Feature Larry Pine, Amanda Quaid and More by BWW News Desk - Apr 17, 2013
Soho Rep has announced casting and an official opening date for the world premiere of Lucas Hnath's play A Public Reading of an Unproduced Screenplay About the Death of Walt Disney. Soho Rep Artistic Director Sarah Benson will direct an ensemble including Larry Pine (The Royal Family, The Seagull, Wes Anderson's films and "House of Cards") as Walt Disney, Amanda Quaid (C-ck, Luck of the Irish) as Daughter, Brian Sgambati (Merchant of Venice with Al Pacino, The Coasts of Utopia) as Ron Miller, and Frank Wood (Clybourne Park, Angels in America) as Roy Disney. Produced in association with John Adrian Selzer, the production, which concludes Soho Rep's highly successful 2012-13 season, will run April 30 - May 26 at Soho Rep (46 Walker Street). Critics are welcome as of Tuesday, May 7 for an opening on Thursday, May 9. (more...)

Cape Cod Theatre Project to Develop New Work by Sharr White, Lucy Alibar and More by BWW News Desk - Apr 17, 2013
Artistic Director Hal Brooks has announced the 2013 season for Cape Cod Theatre Project, featuring staged readings of new work by Sharr White, Heidi Schreck, Rinne Groff and JC Lee. They will be joined in Falmouth, Massachusetts by writers-in-residence Jackie Sibblies Drury, Andrew Dolan, Halley Feiffer and Academy Award nominee Lucy Alibar. (more...)

Photo Coverage: Paul Rudd & Cast of GRACE Celebrate Cort Theatre's 100th Anniversary by Jennifer Broski - Dec 21, 2012
Broadway's Cort Theatre (138 West 48th Street), just celebrated its 100th Anniversary yesterday, December 20th. The theatre, which opened on December 20, 1912 with a Peg O'My Heart starring Laurette Taylor, is currently home to the Broadway Premiere of Grace, which will end its limited engagement on January 6, 2013. It will next be home to the World Premiere production of Truman Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's, a new play written by Richard Greenberg, which starts performances on Monday, March 4 and opens on Wednesday, March 20. The Cort Theatre is owned and operated by The Shubert Organization.

Blackface CLYBOURNE PARK Production Cancelled in Germany by BWW News Desk - Oct 18, 2012
Berlin's Deutsches Theater was to present CLYBOURNE PARK, the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning play, earlier this year - with a white actress in 'experimental makeup' playing the black characters Francine and Lena. Today, Village Voice columnist Michael Musto writes that the production was cancelled after playwright Bruce Norris revoked the rights; in a published letter to the Dramatists Guild, Norris explains his reasoning and condemns the tradition of blackface in German theatres: (more...)

Clybourne Park, the 2012 Tony Award-winning 'Best Play', ends its Broadway run-extended twice already-today, September 2nd, at the Walter Kerr Theatre. Also the winner of the 2011 Pulitzer Prize and Olivier Award, Clybourne Park is the wickedly funny and fiercely provocative new play about race, real estate and the volatile values of each. Earlier today, producer Jordan Roth and cast members from Clybourne Park were on hand at Serendipity 3 to sample the scrumptious Clybourne Park Neapolitan Sundae which will be available at the popular midtown restaurant throughout the month of July. Packed with a combustible mix of ingredients, the delicious sundae boasts three provocatively large scoops of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream brilliantly drenched in white chocolate sauce and milk chocolate fudge.
