Not since Sherri Shepherd's early departure this season has DANCING (and its audience) announced such a shocking boot. Jenkins will keep on with her Welsh Wiggle, cavorting with a pleasant blankness; Driver will continue to foam at the mouth for a perfect 30; Levy will continue to cause housewives and their daughters (or sons) to wish they were pin-up girls, and thus, worthy of his attention. But Menounos will no longer cackel a la Fran Drescher or caper across the DANCING stage. BroadwayWorld's prediction of her claiming that mirrorball trophy, that perfect piece of mantle decor, is proven unfounded.

Today Change.org and GLAAD, the nations lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) media advocacy organization, launched a Mothers Day campaign in support of Jennifer Tyrrell, a mother of four from Bridgeport, Ohio who was ousted from the Boy Scouts of America because she is gay. Celebrities including Julianne Moore, Fran Drescher and Jane Leeves today tweeted after Josh Hutcherson, Kim Wayans, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, as well as Max Adler and Grant Gustin of Glee previously showed support for Tyrrell at the GLAAD Media Awards. The two-hour premiere of Dancing with the Stars showcased this season rag-tag group of actors, musicians, and TV personalities turned dancers - to the sound of an extremely generous panel of judges. To what judge Len Goodman called the best first show of any season, the harshest of criticisms came in the form of, essentially, pats on the heads.
