John Michael Coppola, from Chicagos long running production of JERSEY BOYS, will bring his solo concert, A JERSEY VOICE: Sinatra to Springsteen...And Everyone In Between to three states. Featuring song selections from the 1940s through present day, the set list includes songs made popular by such artists as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen and of course, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Coppola understudied and performed the role of Frankie Valli in the Chicago production of the Broadway hit. ( more...)

Theater actor, writer, and director Gerard Alessandrinis brainchild, the 30-year-old Off-Broadway hit parody series Forbidden Broadway, finally premiered at Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza in Makati City last weekend. Joel Trinidad, Upstart Productions president and the shows director, had picked Forbidden Broadway'S GREATEST HITS, which has two volumes to date, and features some of the more popular spoofs of Broadway musicals and theater legends culled from more than a dozen Forbidden Broadway editions. FORBIDDEN BWAY to Return in July After 3-Year Hiatus!

According to the New York Times, theatre review Forbidden Broadway, which began back in 1982 and hasn't been seen in New York City since 2009, will make a return this summer. Creator Gerard Alessandrini revealed that previews will begin on July 17 at the 47th Street Theater. Shows set to be spoofed this time around include: Ghost, Spider-Man, Newsies, Once, and more. Steven Berkoff is to direct the World Premiere of his latest play, 6 Actors in Search of a Director, a comedy set on a movie location set, for a West End season at Charing Cross Theatre from Wednesday 16th May - Saturday 23rd June. Six actors are on a movie set waiting for their call. Until then they are in limbo needing the director to bring them to life. He does this merely by using the one magic word - Action! ( more...)

Joel Trinidad, Upstart Productions president, announced at a press conference on Tuesday that theater bigwigs Lea Salonga, Aiza Seguerra, Nyoy Volante, Jett Pangan, Iya Villania, Nikki Valdez, Markki Stroem, and Gabe Mercado will guest star in the theater companys summer production of Off-Broadway parody Forbidden Broadways Greatest Hits, written and originally directed by Gerard Alessandrini, and top-billed by Liesl Batucan, Caisa Borromeo, OJ Mariano, and Lorenz Martinez. Fred Barton returns to the Metropolitan Room on Sunday, April 15, at 7:00 PM with his show Fred Barton PRESENTS AND THINKS YOURE GONNA LOVE IT! in which he hosts, sings and plays with his 9-piece Broadway Band, presenting classic Broadway show tunes, with some of his favorite performers. This is Bartons last show until later this summer. In this video, Damon Kirsche sings Kander & Ebb's "Ten Percent," cut from the original 1975 production of CHICAGO.
