Centenary Stage Company's THE WIZARD OF OZ Opens This Weekend by BWW News Desk - Nov 21, 2012
Centenary Stage Company will present The Wizard of Oz for their Holiday Musical Spectacular. Opening this Friday the 23rd at 8 p.m., shows are already filling up fast. Audiences can begin the holiday season with a family classic brought to life at the Sitnik Theatre in the David and Carol Lackland Center. Featuring a cast of 50 actors on the stage, The Wizard of Oz is a musical tradition following the story of Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Lion and Toto, too. These beloved characters visit Hackettstown on their way to the Emerald City, as CSC presents the ROYAL SHAKESPEARE COMPANY'S (RSC) adaptation by Frank Gabrielson and John Kane, with Music and Lyrics from the MGM motion picture score by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg. The RSC said this adaptation came about when the Artistic Director of the company asked for a show that could be performed annually over the Christmas season, so this show is especially made for families to celebrate the holiday season.

The production runs alternately with Marc Shaiman's "Hairspray" at Tuacahn Amphitheatre, an outdoor performance space nestled in a verdant valley, and surrounded by towering red rock cliffs, until October 19. BWW Reviews: OC's 3D Theatricals Stages THE WIZARD OF OZ by Michael L. Quintos - Oct 24, 2011
There's an old showbiz cliche that says that you shouldn't work with kids or animals. Luckily, both contribute an enjoyable, charming quality to 3D Theatricals' gargantuan stage production of THE WIZARD OF OZ, its latest stage offering that performs at the Plummer Auditorium in Fullerton, CA through October 30. Despite being haunted by an onslaught of technical glitches and unfortunate gaffes, the show still manages to be fairly fun and lively in its attempt to recreate a beloved novel and film for the stage. BWW Review: THE WIZARD OF OZ at the Fox by Chris Gibson - Nov 28, 2010
When I asked my son what part of THE WIZARD OF OZ he liked the best he said: 'All of it.' So, I pressed him a little further, and asked who his favorite character was, and he said: 'The Wicked Witch.' I can only say that I wasn't surprised by his answers, but I was surprised by his stamina, as he sat riveted by the action taking place on stage for 2 and 1/2 hours. The touring company at the Fox Theatre this weekend (November 26-28) has conjured up a solid and engaging effort that's greatly enhanced by some memorable special effects wizardry that's particularly effective during the twister sequence.
