PALM BEACH POPS ANNOUNCE 2012-2013 Concert Season

Bob Lappin and The Palm Beach Pops, Floridas premier Pops orchestra, is offering another sensational season of sophisticated musical entertainment with the announcement of six signature concert series. Audiences are invited to hear The Music You Love, Live as the orchestra celebrates 21 years of outstanding music from The Great American Songbook with special guest artists including American Idol Finalist Tamyra Gray, pianist and vocalist, Tony DeSare, Broadway leading lady, Christine Andreas, and Vegas superstar Clint Holmes and more.

Playwrights Horizons' FAR FROM HEAVEN, TheatreWorks' WHEELHOUSE and More Awarded NAMT Grants

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announces 15 awards granted from their National Fund for New Musicals, a major funding program to support NAMT member not-for-profit theatres in their collaborations with writers to create, develop and produce new musicals. Now in its fourth year, the Fund will provide grants totaling $48,000 to 14 organizations across the country. ( more...)

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County presents City Theatres 17th annual SUMMER SHORTS FESTIVAL, South Floridas fast and furiously fun program of the nation's hottest short plays, staged in the intimate Carnival Studio Theater (Ziff Ballet Opera House) from June 1-17, 2012. Under the new direction of Producing Artistic Director John Manzelli, the sizzling 17th season of the companys acclaimed SUMMER SHORTS FESTIVAL features fifteen performances of ten original short plays some raucous, others innovative and poignant, but with the ultimate goal to make audiences laugh.

"I'm actually shocked- quite shocked! And enormously thankful and honored. My husband and I were in a dead sleep and my sweet neighbor downstairs came screaming up the steps my name. And she woke us up and said I'd been nominated and I said 'what?!' And I said 'I don't belive you!' So I made my husband check online because I didn't believe her. And I just collapsed. I think we might be taking a Zipcar to Chick-fil-A today in Paramus. We both love it and we've been jonesing for some Chick-Fil-A so this might be the day!"

Lea Salong & David Burnham Celebrate Broadway & Disney With THE PALM BEACH POPS

The sixth and final concert series in The Palm Beach Pops 20th Anniversary Season, The Magic of Broadway and Disney Favorites will feature Broadway stars Lea Salonga, Tony and Drama Desk Winner, best known as the singing voice in Disney movies and for her leading roles in Miss Saigon and Les Misérables, and 2007 Helen Hayes Award winner David Burnham of Wicked. Six concerts are scheduled beginning March 29, 30 & 31 at The Carole and Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium at FAU, Boca Raton, April 1 at the Eissey Campus Theatre at Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens and April 2 & 3 at the Kravis Center, West Palm Beach.
