Rebeca Tomás and Company to Bring CINCO POR CINCO to Theatre 80 St. Marks, 5/17-19

With a new program of innovative and edgy repertoire, Rebeca Tomas will bring her A Palo Seco Flamenco Company back to Theatre 80 Saint Marks May 17 to 19 in a new production, 'Cinco Por Cinco.' Tomas, a fierce and feminine NY-based Flamenco artist, will direct her company of five dancers, two singers and three musicians in a show that promises to be true to her vision of upholding Flamenco's traditions while also pushing its boundaries and giving it a distinctive New York City feel. BWW Reviews: NYPL: A CENTURY OF FLAMENCO

A just-opened multimedia exhibit at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center is a love letter to flamenco in the Big Apple. It features over 150 historical and contemporary prints, photographs, performance programs, album covers, newspaper and magazine articles, books, costumes and performance regalia, oral histories, music, and rarely seen film and video clips chronicling the artistic and personal lives of Spanish dancers who came to New York and the art form they embraced and changed. The exhibit, a collaboration between the LPA and Flamenco Vivo, one of the country's premier flamenco and Spanish dance companies, and its Artistic Director Carlotta Santana, will be on display at the Library's Shelby Cullom Davis Museum, Vincent Astor Gallery until August 3, 2013. Catskill Mountain Foundation Launches Orpheum Dance Festival

The Catskill Mountain Foundation (CMF) announced today the launch of its inaugural Orpheum Dance Festival at the new Orpheum Performing Arts Center in Tannersville, New York. The theater, designed by acclaimed theater architect Hugh Hardy, provides a rare combination of state-of-the-art proscenium dance stage with splendid acoustics. The festival's centerpiece is a performance by the world renowned Paul Taylor Dance Company on May 22, which complements a larger three-week performance residency by Paul Taylor 2 Dance Company (Taylor 2) from May 6 to May 26, 2013.
