Renaissance Theaterworks' Presents HAPPY DAYS, By Samuel Beckett

Renaissance Theaterworks will continue its 27th season of a?oeTransformationa?? with Samuel Beckett's 1961's modern masterpiece, HAPPY DAYS. Through Winnie and her relationship with husband Willie, the play explores a world that appears to consist of pointless or misunderstood communication, that seems to lack purpose and direction, and yet, reminds us that in the midst of despair, we survive, find inner strength, and continue to look for hope and salvation.

Teresa L. Thome Brings WARM CHEESE to United Solo Fest

Written and performed by Teresa L. Thome and Directed by Stan Zimmerman, a?oeWarm Cheesea?? is an intimate and comedic exploration of a woman wanting to no longer hate her dead mother. The night of her mother's funeral as the family all gathers, a daughter learns more about her mother than she ever expected or wanted.

400 YEARS IN MANHATTAN Extends United Solo Run

400 Years in Manhattan, the rollicking 'multimedia monologue' in which New York storyteller Noah Diamond leads the way through four centuries of history, is extending its run in the 2019 United Solo Theatre Festival. After selling out its first two performances, a third has been added, on November 6 at 9:00 pm.

10th Season Of United Solo Festival Opens Tonight

The wait is finally over for the 10th anniversary of United Solo. With its most ambitious lineup yet, United Solo will once again unite solo performers from six continents in the heart of New York's theatre district. Over 130 productions will be presented at this year's United Solo, the largest festival of its kind in the world, celebrating its first decade of taking solo theatre to new heights. With up to five performances each day until November 24 at Theatre Row, this year's robust selection of one-person shows will attract thousands of theatregoers. Over 20 performances have sold out in advance, with more expected to follow. The festival will grant additional performance dates to its most popular productions. In addition to performances, United Solo also offers Master Classes with world-famous theatre creators and recognized experts, including acclaimed director Austin Pendleton, who will give his Master Class on October 8, with more Master Classes to follow.

The one-woman show a?oeGeli and Uncle Alfa?? explores the little known relationship between Adolf 'Alf' Hitler and Angelika 'Geli' Raubal, his first niece and one true love. Slowly drawn into a tender obsession with her uncle, Geli, a spirited freedom-loving young woman, finds herself confronted with a dependency from which she is unable to detach.

A KISS - ANTONIO LIGABUE Returns To NYC

After more than 60 performances, the award-winning one man-show A KISS - ANTONIO LIGABUE comes back to NYC. It tells the true story of the struggles of outsider artist Antonio Ligabue who became famous just before he died. Today, Ligabue is one of Italys most well-known artists, the a??Italian van Gogh'. Large charcoal drawings are created live on stage and thus become the play's scenery and the actor's co-players.

United Solo, the world's largest solo theatre festival, is proud to present the nominees of the 2019 United Solo Special Award. The Special Award recognizes and celebrates outstanding solo performers. These are artists who create captivating performances outside the United Solo Festival and have brought the art of solo theatre to new heights. It is United Solo's mission to provide a platform to solo artists who are committed to creating solo theatre that focuses on the uniqueness of the human being. These artists have pushed the boundaries of solo theatre in unique ways and the Special Award will honor an artist whose work in the last year deserves particular recognition. Previous recipients of the Special Award include Anna Deavere Smith (2010), Patti LuPone (2011), John Leguizamo (2012), Fiona Shaw (2013), Billy Crystal (2014), James Lecesne (2015), Staceyann Chin (2016), Michael Moore (2017), and Renée Taylor (2018).

In 400 Years in Manhattan, 'recovering tour guide' Noah Diamond tells the story of the island of Manhattan, accompanied by an expansive multimedia presentation. Diamond, best known for his performance as Groucho Marx in the Off Broadway revival of I'll Say She Is, made his New York debut on a double-decker tour bus. 'That was my day job for years,' he says, 'and I always thought: What I'm really doing here is writing a show.'

When the devil offers you anything you want, can he satisfy you? At United Solo Theatre Festival, a man and a devil will battle it out as award-winning, world-traveling New York actor and storyteller Glen Williamson performs Beat the Devil!, a one-man play about love, sex, murder, myth, magic, war, waves and a devil out of his depths.

Olympia Dukakis Teaches Series Of 3 Master Classes At United Solo

After the immense success of her previous classes, United Solo is bringing back Oscar winner Olympia Dukakis to teach a series of 3 Master Classes on consecutive Fridays starting August 30, 2019 in New York City. This is a rare opportunity to work with Ms. Dukakis over the course of three weeks, developing one's acting skills and receiving her direct feedback. The class series, 'The Importance of Craft,' will teach students to identify and develop what is important to them as performers. Ms. Dukakis will explain how to approach the craft of acting as a personal connection to thoughts, actions, circumstances, and character, as expressed and defined by the text. 'My most important tools when I teach are my own sensibility, my personal perceptions, my knowledge of the craft, and the excitement and satisfaction I always feel with students,' said Ms. Dukakis.
