2013 Tommy Tune Award Winners Announced

The 2013 Tommy Tune Awards winners have been announced! To a crowd of more than 2,500 people, Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) declared the winners of TUTS' eleventh annual Tommy Tune Awards on the evening of Tuesday, April 16, at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. Adding extra excitement to the evening, the award ceremony's namesake and nine-time Tony Award winner Tommy Tune made a special appearance to kick off the show and to present the night's top honor. Breckenridge, President and CEO of Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS), announced today the nominations and presenters for TUTS' eleventh annual Tommy Tune Awards which will be held on Tuesday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. Kicking off the holiday season while also helping to raise funds for the theater's ongoing operations, a one-weekend-only Yuletide Cabaret will be presented at The Country Playhouse tonight, November 30 to December 2, with an opening night cocktail reception gala at 6:30 p.m., plus a Saturday performance at 8:00 p.m., and closing with a matinee at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. What started as friends having fun, singing around a piano, has blossomed into what promises to be a mirth filled and extraordinary production. Last night, I was invited to attend a rehearsal for The Country Playhouse's special holiday event YULETIDE CABARET. Walking into The Country Playhouse, the air was buzzing with holiday cheer and excitement. Even though it was just a rehearsal, the mood was set for a fantastic evening of holiday favorites, wondrous surprises, and delightful new Christmas themed songs. (more...)

Just under a week until Halloween, Bayou City Theatrics kicks off their inaugural season with Richard O'Brien's cult-favorite, THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW. While audiences at the Toyota Center waited for the original material girl to take the stage, Bayou City Theatrics channeled 80s inspired glam pop-punk fashions with their own breed of material girls (and boys) and treated their audience to a fresh rendition of the classic show.
