Adult Swim announced today that it has picked up a fourth season of Childrens Hospital, the irreverent, satirical comedy series created by and starring Rob Corddry (Hot Tub Time Machine, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart). Adult Swim has ordered 14 new episodes for premiere in 2012, and principal photography will begin later this year on the hit comedy from Corddry and fellow executive producers/writers Jonathan Stern (producer of The Ten and NTSF:SD:SUV::) and David Wain (Wet Hot American Summer, Role Models, the upcoming Wanderlust). Family, friendship and loyalty aren't just for two-legged souls in the ABC Family Movie Premiere Event, "Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2," premiering Sunday, March 13th (9:00 - 11:00 PM ET/PT). The perils of Mexico now behind them, its puppy mayhem that turns the lives of new Chihuahua parents, Papi and Chloe, upside down when their mischievous litter presents one challenge after another. But when Papi and Chloe's humans are in trouble, the tiny pups will stop at nothing to save them because, doggone it, family sticks together. The New York Times is reporting that President Obama and his wife, Michelle, plan to visit New York City tomorrow, Saturday, May 30th and take in a Broadway show, the August Wilson play "Joe Turner's Come and Gone" at the Belasco Theater on West 44th Street. The news of the First Couple's visit was revealed to The Times by three theater executives who had been informed of the First Family's plans. (more...)

Forgive me if it has become too old a cliché, and perhaps even an unintentional racial stereotype, to point out the enrapturing musicality of language the late August Wilson displayed in his landmark decade-by-decade cycle of plays about African-American experiences in the 20th Century. That trait is especially evident in pieces set in the earlier decades (i.e. Gem of the Ocean, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom) and seems to decrease as the years go on, demonstrating an assimilation into the established (Eurocentric) culture of the country.
