Red Tape Theatre has announced that starting in January 2013, Brooke Allen will become their first playwright in residence as part of the newly revised Fresh Eyes Project. Formed in 2005, the Fresh Eyes Project has been a bold, new workshop process designed to create and develop plays that are innovative in form and subject. Over the years, it has assisted in the development of such projects as Caitlin Parish's A Twist of Water, Aaron Weissman's Egg & Alfie, Martin Zimmerman's Making of a Modern Folk Hero and Martyna Majok's Mouse in a Jar, which went on to be a Jeff Award winning production for Red Tape Theatre in 2009.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey launches the Fall portion of its 50th Anniversary Season with the critically acclaimed stage adaptation of Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist by British playwright, author, and director, Neil Bartlett.

Red Tape Theatre presents THE SKRIKER, a haunting fairytale by Caryl Churchill, directed by Eric Hoff, director of The Inconvenience's critically-acclaimed production of Hit the Wal), performed promenade style September 13 - October 20, 2012 at Red Tape Theatre, 621 W. The Chicago Park District's Theater on the Lake: The Chicago Summer Theater Festival turns 60 this year and is proud to announce the eight artistically diverse Chicago theater companies that will receive encore presentations from June 13 - Aug. 5, 2012. Each production will be performed for five evenings only at the theater at Fullerton Avenue and Lake Shore Drive.

The award-winning Peccadillo Theater Company will present a staged reading of one of Eugene O'Neill's most autobiographical plays, The Straw tonight on Monday, June 4th at 7 pm at Theatre at St. Clement's (423 West 46th Street, between Ninth & Tenth Avenues). The presentation will be directed by Peccadillo's OBIE and Lortel Award-winning artistic director, Dan Wackerman. The cast will feature Ellen Adair, Cyrilla Baer, Jacqueline Baum, Jeffrey C. Hawkins, Eric Hoffmann, Susan Jeffries, Jodie Lynne McClintock, Ryah Nixon, Keith Perry, Richard Poe and Lee Aaron Rosen. Tony Triano will narrate.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company is now accepting applications for Garage Rep 2013, which presents the work of three of Chicago's most innovative storefront theater companies in rotating repertory under Steppenwolf's banner. Chicago theater companies with a track record of production excellence and inventive approaches to attracting millennial audiences are encouraged to apply.
