The Cooperstown Summer Music Festival, under the artistic direction of flutist Linda Chesis, celebrates its fifteenth anniversary season with a diverse offering of musical experiences. From rebellious Baroque innovators to a critically-acclaimed jazz songstress, this year's Festival promises to excite and inspire. GHOST BROTHERS OF DARKLAND COUNTY Comes to Minneapolis, 10/31 by BWW News Desk - May 14, 2013
Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, the riveting stage version of the new supernatural blues and roots musical from author Stephen King, musician John Mellencamp and producer/songwriter T Bone Burnett, will play Hennepin Theatre Trust's State Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013. This haunting tale of fraternal love, lust, jealousy and revenge will be performed by an ensemble cast of 15 actors and a four-piece live band. The album of the musical (Concord Music Group), featuring such artists as Elvis Costello, Sheryl Crow, Neko Case and Kris Kristofferson, will be released on June 4. Singer/Songwriter Jamey Johnson takes to the stage at Indian Ranch in Webster, MA on Sunday, July 21 at 2 PM. Last fall Johnson released his duet tribute album to songwriter Hank Cochran titled Living for a Song: A Tribute to Hank Cochran. When word got out that acclaimed Nashville artist Jamey Johnson was recording a tribute album to beloved songwriter Hank Cochran, musical superstars clamored to participate. From the ranks of the Country Music Hall of Fame came George Strait, Emmylou Harris, Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson, Ray Price and Vince Gill, not to mention Cochran's oldest and truest friend, Willie Nelson. Veteran stars Leon Russell, Elvis Costello, Bobby Bare and Asleep at the Wheel perform on the album alongside contemporary artists such as Alison Krauss, Lee Ann Womack and Ronnie Dunn. (more...)
