Paul Lustig Dunkel presents his Soundscapes, a concert series featuring some of New York's finest classical and jazz musicians, in a concert tonight, February 11 at 8pm. This concert features Igor Stravinsky's 1918 L'Histoire du Soldat, song highlights from past productions, excerpts from Kurt Weill's gritty Three Penny Opera, and a short work by composer Sebastian Chang. The Talking Band presents the world-premiere production of OBSKENE -- a new play comprised of messenger speeches from classical Greek Tragedy and reports from the near future created by 8 playwrights including David Greenspan, Tina Shepard, Marcus Gardley and Deb Margolin -- with an official press opening set for Thursday, Nov. 8 at HERE (145 Ave. of the Americas, one block south of Spring). Outage Forces Cancellation of OBSKENE's First Preview at HERE, 11/1 by BWW News Desk - Oct 31, 2012
The Obie Award-winning The Talking Band has announced that power outages downtown will force the cancellation of 1st preview performance of the new play OBSKENE on Thursday, Nov. 1 at HERE, located at 145 Ave. of the Americas at Dominick St. Paul Zimet, artistic director of The Talking Band, said the company would decide on Nov. 1st whether or not they will be able to proceed with performances on Nov. 2 based on the availability of power in the Soho area. CTC is the industry leader in commissioning and producing plays by women specifically for young audiences, adding several strong young women to the canon of female protagonists. The opening play of the 2012-2013 Season brings a new feisty young lady to the stage to face seemingly insurmountable challenges. CTC will premiere the musical Buccaneers, written by Liz Duffy Adams with music by Ellen Maddow September 11 through October 21. (more...)
