Artist Series Presents THE CAPITOL STEPS, 2/5-10 by BWW

Thirty years ago, THE CAPITOL STEPS began as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them. In the following years, many of the Steps ignored the conventional wisdom ('Don't quit your day job!'), and although not all of the current members of the Steps are former Capitol Hill staffers, taken together the performers have worked in a total of 18 Congressional offices and represent 62 years of collective House and Senate staff experience. THE CAPITOL STEPS Opens 10/12 at Aurora's Paramount Theatre by BWW News Desk - Sep 20, 2012
It's an election year - meaning many people are in need of laughs. Enter The Capitol Steps, a political satire group who are setting out to put the 'mock' in 'democracy' on Friday, Oct. 12, at 8 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre, 23 E. Galena Blvd. in downtown Aurora. Tickets are $30-$35. The Capitol Steps return to the Opera House for another round of hilarity. The group began as Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them. In the years that followed, many of the Steps ignored the conventional wisdom ('Don't quit your day job!'), and although not all of the current members of the Steps are former Capitol Hill staffers, taken together the performers have worked in a total of 18 Congressional offices and represent 62 years of collective House and Senate staff experience. Since they began, the Capitol Steps have recorded 29 albums, including their latest, Obama Mia! They've been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC, and PBS, and can be heard four times a year on National Public Radio stations nationwide during their Politics Takes a Holiday radio specials. (more...)
